You can't get tax credits under the age of 25.

Unless you're a parent or disabled.
Yes working is part of life but even full time workers get a day off, with the job she has found she needs to work for all of her free days, which would I believe affect her studies.

Work 2 days and study 2 days? Most of the courses are only 3 days so that people can get a job, without it affecting their studies too much.

    Not, I'd think relevant here.

I once got told that if someone enters a course at 18, they can receive EMA. Also, if during that course they turn 19, (ie, they start in September and turn 19 in April) they continue getting EMA.

Look for a job in a local shop, they always want part time and weekend staff and are usually felxiable with what days you want to work.
I am 18, a full time student and I work BOTH saturday and sunday and have done since I was 16. I dont know many students who dont work.

Okay. My daughter will be 20 in October. We currently get Child Benefit and Family Tax Credit and I get an addition to my incapacity benefit. So it is a big monetary loss. I am unable to work. She has 3 A levels so is not eligible for the LSF. She is doing a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts. The Adult Learning Grant is for Vocational Courses as I have enquired.

She used to get 30 pounds on Ema. While we are not charging her rent we are having to ask for a contribution as much as we'd like to waive it, we can't. She helps a lot at home because of my disability and is not as carefree as some students. While I understand perfectly the idea of students working and am all in favour of working for a living, if I can ease the load for her somewhat I will and hence my original enquiry.

So if anyone does know of anything that might be available please let me know. Getting a job is not as easy as it used to be. She's not fussy about what she does.
