Yes, I've noticed at the local sorting office that some people are like WELL RUDE to the staff behind the counter. They're only doing their jobs, and by being polite the staff will actually go off and look for your package. 10-minutes later, they come back with it.

You like stand there in the queue and these people turn around and look at everyone as if everyone supports them. "No, we think you're an idiot and you're holding us up."

Equally so, with my SD items in another thread. The staff are polite if you're polite, but they're just stretched out so thin practically to the point of giving up. RM have got some REALLY SERIOUS management problems up at the top, and everyone down at the bottom; staff and customers alike, are left to fight over the scraps.

totally agree,i go out of my way to help some people
    others get the brush off
ive stayed late to hunt for packets, ive went out and delivered then after my finish time but giving attitude just means you get minimal service
its interesting the way people feel its an acceptable way to speak to people
women are worse as i think they feel there are less consequences
its not the 1st time ive asked a guy at the counter if he would speak to me like that if we met out on the street ;)

We also hate being patronised... and we get that a lot from men! ;) Perhaps some of us go in a bit defensive.
(Just an observation, not an accusation :) I am 'not welcome' in a local shop because the incompetent manager didn't appreciate me calling him incompetent)

its funny how different people get different results
one woman the other day said i was the friendliest person in the office
yet ive had some flaming rows with people who i doubt would say the same ;)
i understand people are getting frustrated (though many are just idiots) with how RM is going
however there people skills leave a lot to be desired ;)

Well I never would have believed it from reading your inoffensive posts on here. Some men are so touchy aren't they!

I have to say I don't manage a shop (although in the past I have done so) however if you called me or ANY member of my staff incompetent, I promise you would not only be unwelcome in my shop, you would be barred for life!

In addition I would contact the local traders assosiation and give your details out (if I knew them) and allow the other local traders to decide whether they wanted your custom as well, In all likliehood, you might well find yourself barred from all the local shops!

Nobody should have to accept abuse either verbal or physical whilst they are simply doing their job, and like it or not calling someone incompetent in THEIR premises is abuse.

Remember the old adage, the management reserve the right to refuse admission.

But what if the staff member is truely incompetent?

Why can't we just be nice to each other? This is supposed to be a help board, I am quite happy to be told off if I am wrong or correctly readvised!!
There are fantastic posties and awful ones. I for one view custardy as a great mine of information.
There are awful people everywhere and in the grand scheme of things when people are getting knifed regularly are we not lucky that we are still alive and can have dsiscussions such as this.
If I have a problem I always ask politely for a resolution then if not I can get stroppy. I am not scarede of men I rather like them. Using the sex card is a bit feeble from both sides.

    Exactly!

Rebel... if you'd screwed up, as a shop manager, in fact making the situation worse, what would you do? Offer me my money back, or get into an argument with me and bar me?
