How to get 4 kids in a citroen xsara picasso

Can anyone solve this?

We have 2 kids already, and we knew a third sibling would be joining them, but to cut a long story short, 3 will now be 4 in October. There will be a 6 year old, a 3 year old (vsmall), a one year old and a newborn. At the beginning of this year we bought a Citroen Xsara Picasso and we love it. But we dont know how to get two adults, 2 kids and 2 babies in it!!! We really dont want to change it yet, as we bought it with a loan and have only made 4 payments on it, and I think there may be a penalty for early repayment.

Is there anyway adaptations can be made to fit 4 child seats in the rear?? Is it illegal for me to put the 6 year old in the front passenger seat and for me to have the baby on my knee in the back? Are you allowed to adapt estates and people carriers to put a seat in the boot like you used to be able to do with volvos??

As far as i know no there is no way to adapt it (we have the same car) and yes its VERY illegal to travel with a baby on your knee, highly unsafe too.

I think you will have to just accept you will need a bigger car.

yep you need a bigger car. the new regulations are affecting a lot of people, many even with 3 children can't fit 3 child seats in the back and so 6 and 7 seaters are becoming more and more necessary. What type of loan? from the car company or from a bank?

We have a picasso and 3 children (5, 3 and 5 months) and theres no way you'll fit a 4th in it so looks like you're going to have to get a bigger car (or travel in 2 cars when the 6 of you go anywhere).

I really wouldn't reccomend putting additional seats in the boot of your car, this is in the 'crumple zone' of your car , basically the part of your car designed to take the full force of a rear end crash, if you put small children in them and you get smashed into from behind, it doesn't bear thinking about!

P.s could you not turn off your passenger air bag and have the baby in the front seat in a rear facing car seat, elder children in the back, and whoever isn't driving in the middle of the back seat.

But there is going to be 4 kids and 2 adults so one baby and adult in from that still leave 3 kids and one adult in the back. Just doesnt go!

Oh sorry love got confused just assumed it was one more kid:o
That does change things i'm afraid you will have to get a bigger car, but when buying one be aware of the new car tax they want to backdate to 2001.

Good point, we bought out 2003 Picasso last year and if the new tax thing goes ahead we will be paying a lot more in the next few years!!

Id gladly buy an enviro friendly car but we bought a cheaper used car as thats all we could afford! Talk about getting stung twice!
