12 month suspension from eBay

Just thought I'd share my bad luck with you all and warn people not to do what I did.

I put a few items on eBay and used stock images from the company that made them. The images had copyright (Company name) at the bottom. Anyway, a few days later, all the items were removed and my account was suspended for 10 days for breaching Copyright T&C. I filled out the reinstation form and posted that to eBay a long with a bank statement and passport photocopy (as they requested).

Anyway, while I was awaiting my account to be reinstated, I purchased an item on my brothers account (It was some cream for £5), and I paid for the item using my paypal account.

Two days later, I got an email from then saying they know that I used Mr X account and that I'm now suspended for 12 months (July 2009). My brothers account got suspended for 1 month.

They said if I re-register or use anyone's else's account or ebay in any way, I will be permanently banned.

So I can't use ebay for 12 months. After 3 years and 160 positive feedback (100%), I'm now eBay'less for a year. :(

Just thought i'd share my story and bad luck this month and remind people not to use copyright images unless they have permission, as it can bite you on the bum.

You can have more than ebay account as long as you use a different email address (ebay told me this). There's a good chance that you will be banned and not just the account attached to your current email address though. But the fact that you got wrong for using brother's account I wouldn't be surprised if they were arsey about that as well.

Although trading while suspended makes ebay reeeeally cheesed off. I bet a copyright violation wouldn't have got you a year's trading holiday.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Did Paypal not break the data protection act by sharing your transaction details like that?

Ebay won't be happy until they've banned all their customers.

Ebay shareholders must love reading tales like the OP's...

I suspect it had already been breached by the OP. I'd have thought you'd have been giving advice about how to open further accounts while suspended.

    How so?

There's nothing worth buying on ebay anymore, and with all the changes it's a waste of time trying to sell anything.

Best advice to OP is not to bother.

    Just setup a new account.

Wipe the cookies from your PC first, and get a new paypal.

Register everything to a different address of course, and don't reuse any bank account/credit card you've used before

They have no way to catch you.

Ebay tracked you through your IP address..

Use a different machine and they won't know any different..
I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!
