Hi all
When do you usually buy shoes for your kids? We have two boys, 7 and 9. I tend buy a pair each in Jan to last till summer, and then they wreck them during summer hols.
Then another pair each in Aug to last till Dec.
The problem is that there are times when my kids' shoes look out of season.
Anyways......... what do you do? Or, and how much do you pay? Last time I paid £80 for two pairs, nice shoes, leather and all that, but ouch!
thanks.

I don't want to come across like I am getting at you but surely the answer to the question would be when my kids need a new pair of shoes then I buy them? Kids feet grow so quick that if I left it for that ling between pairs then my 2 would be wearing shoes that were uncomfortable and therefore, very bad for their growing feet.
Also TBH my kids shoes would never last from January until August, they would be falling apart.
I buy my DS's shoes from clarks as he has really wide feet and his shoes are about £30+. My DD gets hers from Clarks too but usually from the sale, I actually bought her a pair from Woolworths last month from their value range - £5! They are lovely and are holding up well so far.
BTW, How do Kids shoes look out of season - My DD must be very unfashionable if hers are from the sale range to start with!:eek:0 -
I buy what they need when they need it!0

Like sickofhavingmoney said how can children look out of fashion in school shoes?! By definition school shoes are meant to be practical not fashionable. That's not to say they look bad!! This may be why your shoe budget is so high!Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £151.04 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

I buy them as and when they need shoes, depending on how their feet have grown or if they are worn out (what on earth do boys do with shoes?!!)
It wouldn't bother me if they are last seasons styles. They're just school shoes and as long as they are black, I'm not bothered what the style is.Here I go again on my own....0 -
I buy school shoes in Sept, Clarks usually last all year 'til summer if they're not outgrown but the cheaper ones have been known to fall apart before then.
Apart from that I buy my dd pretty pink shoes all the time, she's a girl how can I not!0 -
I also buy shoes has my children need them and i only buy them one pair usually from Clarks.0

Kicking out their shoes is apprantly not just a boy thing, my little girl (5) has nearly put a hole in both shoes at the toe as she scuffs them on the floor. They still fit and are only a few months old so she can wait til the new school yr for a new pair, unless she kicks them right the way through. I buy as and when hey are needed and at the start of the school yr.0

i cant believe your sons shoes last that long , my son used to wreck a pair of shoes or trainers every 2 weeks to a month no matter the make or cost untill i came across turf football boots which would last him 6 months i even bought him rockports he put a whole in the front after 2 months , school trousers were just as bad they last a week if i was luckily hes 15 now and still the same football mad. i bought him some expensive trainers 2 weeks ago i had to take then to the cobblers yesterday as he'd ripped the sole. i be pleased when he has to buy his own lol i bet he starts looking after them more then lolsafc forever

I buy my eldest school shoes in August, just before school starts back.
His feet aren't growing so fast now, so they will probably last the school year (he's not into footie) but if they get tight, I will buy new ones. I buy him Reebok or Nike trainers from a sports shop, which he plays in after shcool.
There's no rule as to when you have to buy shoes - when they need them, you buy them.
As for school shoes being 'out of season'...that's a new one to me!:DCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
