PM Restrictions

I can see the need to do something and the action taken is right as a stopgap. But it does hamper the flirting and whatever.
Now, the people doing the spamming are morons who are not involved in the boards, doing this with throwaway IDs. I would suggest that the restrictions only apply to posters with less than say 20 posts, over a min of 10 days, on the basis that the spamming morons will not go to the effort to join in with threads requiring intelligence. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people

The restrictions at the moment are only a temporary measure and will be reviewed as said by Webby in the OP.
In fact there are many new users who use the pm system to ask for help without ever posting on the boards and I certainly wouldn't like to see them restricted just because of spammers.0 -

I don't understand why any newbies would PM someone to ask advice rather than posting a question on a board first, surely that's the whole point of the forums, to post and get a range of advice and opinions.
I'd strongly support disallowing PMs to posters with less than than a set number of posts over a time period. That solves everything, spammers create an ID, spam a few boards and PMs, are reported, hopefully have their ID deleted - so if this was implemented they could never PM in the first place.0 -

i must admit i was one of them in the begining.... as i didnt want to look a plonker on an open forum.... i pm'd someone for more help and advice . and that mse'r helped me enormously.... and went over certain things a few times before i actually got the git of it so to speak.... so
even though it is a good idea about no pm's unless you have done x amount of posts etc... i do feel this could restrict genuine newbies which might be in a financial situation that needs answers, but dont or havent got the courage/confidence to post on the boards..Work to live= not live to work0 -
