Thanks for all the info. Someone refered to the Professional Travel Insurance Co Ltd, mine is underwritten by them too. The policy is from Columbus. I shall be reading it carefully now.0

Have you come across Atlas Direct for insurance and, if so, what are your thoughts on them?
I've had an annual policy with Nationwide for years, but I am considering changing to Atlas Direct at renewal in January as their cover looks very good and they are less than half the price. They also offer a policy with no excess, they cover cruises and their medical cover is up to £10 million.
I was going to post this on Holiday Truths, but I'm not sure if you check that site regularly.0 -
Atlas Direct I have dealt with and have had few problems. They use Europ Assistance as their assist/claims handlers who are well above average as far as assistance services go.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Hi FH Brit
We are insured with flexicover direct, how do they fare? We have been to Orlando a few times and have used them for the last 2 years but never had to make a claim so far. We are going to Miami then on to Orlando in May/June and will need to renew our cover before we go. Thanks...0 -

Many thanks for that, most reassuring. I think I will give them a go, provided they cover a couple of pre-existing conditions.0 -
Love2save – flexicover again use Europ Assistance for their assist/claims service and again I have had few problems. They seem to be as good as any. NOTE – I read their exclusions in the “policy wording” part of their website, worth a read before you buy, make sure you are within the terms and don’t find out the hard way that you are excluded.C. I have abandoned plans to move to Atlas Direct. I called to see if they would cover my PEC. Yes they would, but at a premium of £213 on top of the standard fee.
Will stick with my Nationwide policy at £130 for both of us worldwide.0 -
Hope this doesnt sound like a silly question.
We have annual TI with Direct travel insurance.
I declared that i have very mild asthma and understand that i wont be covered for that.
But i am now having to have tests for benign palpitations just to continue ruling out anything sinister ~ do i now have to declare that ?
Also my daughter had cancer when she was born, survived and is now a healthy 18 year old~ i hadnt considered declaring that either.
Touch wood so far the biggest issue on holiday in florida for us have been indigestion and blisters:rolleyes:0 -
Direct are pretty good insurers and give me little greif!
You should call and ask them rather than finding out the hard way that you are not covered. As far as your daughter is concerned, most insurers usually rule out as a pre-exist condition after certain amount of time (this will differ between insurers) again call and ask them.
Indigestion - too much food ah? Blisters - Too many theme parks?
At least your not typical Brit, Sunburn and dehydration!!!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Hi FH Brit
I wonder if you could advise me please.
My husband tripped last September and fractured a Metatarsil. He was put in plaster but it was quite a common minor injury. When he returned to have the plaster removed the fracture hadn't healed properly so he was signed off work for another month (Dec). When he returned to the hospital in Dec he was told he may have RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) and sent for Physio. He returned to work at this time on light duties as his walking was still impaired and was sent to weekly Physio ankle clinic sessions. During this time he was advised not to drive until he felt able to do an emergency stop comfortably.
His Physio sessions were discontinued at the beginning of March this year and he was totally discharged by the hospital on 21 Aug.
None of this treatment was as an in-patient.
Do you know if this will affect his insurance cover and how would you suggest I should go about arranging insurance cover for our pending trip to Florida at the beginning of Dec?
Thank you in advance for any help you can give in addition to the valuable information you have provided on this site.We seek a world in which everyone with HIV/AIDS can live an abundant lifeWant to join us?0
