I've given up on Tesco now after they messed up so many times. I emailed them to tell them my complains and the fact they've now lost all my grocery orders, contact lenses and a loan I was looking at taking out. They weren't bothered.

  • Tesco home delivery for me is a definitely no no! After the experiences i had with them i prefer to drive 20 mins to their store and do my shopping myself, that way i receive the goods and intact too.
  • Thanks everyone!

I contacted Tesco again today, a week after the origianl delivery, as their store manager never got back to me.

The call centre person I spoke to was very understanding and without much trouble at all, gave me a £3.99 refund to cover the delivery cost.

It could be better and it could be worse eh!

The thing is I don't want to drop Tesco home shopping as it saves us a great deal of money and effort. I find it easier to stick to a list when shopping online and as we both suffer with back troubles, we are happy to have everything delivered. Sadly, only Tesco and Sainsbury deliver in our area and Tesco is a lot cheaper than Sainsbury so they have the monopoly on us!

Anyway, thanks again and I am a sort of happy Tesco customer again!
    Lesson learnt!
  • My local store has an excellent delivery service so I just want to stop the blanket condemning of Tesco home shopping; yes I have had a couple of problems but if they are late they usually ring and once they rang to ask if they could come early! We had to pick the shopping up once as they were short of drivers but they picked it all and gave us a bottle of wine.

I know it is really frustrating for you, but phone the number at the top of your printed sheet ( when you get your delivery )and insist the minimum you get is refunded delivery) which should be the store it came from. I just phone if I have been overcharged and they refund it, once I rang to say I had things I didn't order ( or pay for ) and they said thanks for letting them know and keep the things, no charge. I only phoned so they would be ready when an irate customer phoned!

You've got the right idea! Whatever delivery charge Tesco waive, they'll get that money back in future by getting the same customers back in the shop or online! It doesn't cost Tesco a penny. They're just making fools of their customers. And they know they get customers back, as they can keep track of purchases with card payments/ deliveries and loyalty cards.

Why do people put up with it? Use other supermarkets and let them know...

I have to speak up in defence of my own Tesco store (Luton/Dunstable border).

I have never had them turn up late, I have had a phone call asking if it would be convenient for them to come early (it was!) and apart from this week on Tuesday, when a tub of cream had leaked, I have never had any problems with my orders. I emailed them and let them know and received an email back from them this morning, saying that the price of the cream will be refunded.

I think it all very much depends on the individual store, because apart from the stories on this thread, I have heard of some awful experiences that people have had with Tesco home delivery.

Unfortunately some of us have no choice, especially now Iceland have stopped internet shopping, so Tesco (or Waitrose**) are the only supermarket that deliver in my area

**They're expensive, with very few voucher codes around to get a discount, plus their website isn't the easiest to use!

Edit: just to add, that after some horrendous mistakes and continual complaints to Tesco over my deliveries, most have been resolved since they replaced the Home Shopping manager at my local branch, and I haven't had cause to complain about anything for a couple of months now ;)

I cant complain about Tesco. I used to go to Asda to do my shopping instore. Now I use Tesco delivery. I use all the discount codes from this site, so have never paid for delivery. More often than not they ring to say can they come early. Substitutions have always been great. They refunded me some money when I emailed them to say a packet of biscuits were broken.
  • I've never had any problems with Tesco either (touch wood!) and have been online shopping with them over a year now. Always delivered within time scale, substitutes are very few and have been acceptable. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones.
  • can somebody please tell me how you manage not to pay delivery charges by using vouchers? where are these vouchers? Also if you shop at tesco online can you use coupons? and can you also take advantage of the misprice policy? after reading what you all have to say on shopping i think i could really do some money saving in this area. who is better, asda or tesco? i am starting a nursing diploma after xmas, and need all the help i can get when i leave work thanks in advance for any advice
