Ewwww, slugs... *shudder*
But don't lose sight of the fact that 30% of your financial target and 40% of your weightloss target is REALLY fab! :T"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Day 35
And yesterday I mowed the lawn :j :j And it was not easy, the grass was long and wet.
DS1 phoned, he and gf were waiting on the side of the road for a low-loader as he'd blown a bit of the engine he'd built  , he thinks he can sort it todaybut I went and collected gf so he could have macho discussions with the mechanic
Then we curled up in front of House eating nibbles from Lidl -very MS.
I've suggested that rather than do our usual foray into a supermarket that they help me get some space in the freezer. Should save me a fortune in "treats" :rotfl: But the "orchard" (there's an area with 15 fruit trees which we pretensiously call the Orchard :rotfl: :rotfl: ) has so many apple trees and about five of the really old ones are laden with apples (some sort of cooker) and the freezer is going to be filled again next month. (Apple brandy last year when I ran out of room - v.nicebut useless in cooking)
Abel & Cole box arrived today and I'm not very impressed. Good thing it only cost 95p. 3 carrots, 3 potatoes and 5 pears. I *loathe* lollo rosso and a tough cabbage. 3 bananas and 5 over-ripe tomatoes. I shall be glad to cancel them :rotfl:0 -
I've been having exchanges with a foreign buyer on e-bay, he was the under-bidder so I'd sent him a 2nd chance when the first bidder changed his mind. He wanted more photos etc.
Today I receive some photos, of his "collection" and one of him :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I expect he thinks I'm a young lady selling her Dad's toys0 -
Oh my word - adventures in ebay!
I used to get an organic veg box all the time, and getting the Abel & Cole one for the quidco reminded me why I stopped - awkward delivery times (all day!) & several things I didn't particularly like. Even if I was flush again, I wouldn't go back to having a box.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
My mum always found that the veg was far older and tougher than stuff from her allotment, and worse came with tonnes of mud still attached (she had a v.local box)
but then her home grown stuff was the sweetest, tenderest stuff you could wish for. She said she picked everything so young that it was close to infanticide :rotfl: But it tasted SOOO good, I wish I had half her skill.0 -
I had an Abel and Cole box through the Quidco offer too - I had a very strong suspicion that some of the mud had actually been applied to the veg on purpose. I mean muddy spuds and carrots I can accept, but muddy bananas and courgettes? :rotfl:
And no, they hadn't just been rubbing against the other muddy veg!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

So we're agreed then? Abel and Cole have wasted their money with us?0 -
Yup!
I did a quick calculation (well, I am a DFW nerd after all), and for the same (but non-organic) veg in Asda, it would have been half the price. But that was including £2 of soft fruit, which I don't tend to buy anyway, so I think I had about £3 - £4 of actual value from them. Still, not bad for 95p! :T"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I wish I'd gone for just vegetables. I don't have enough of them for one meal. But fruit mostly doesn't appeal, well perhaps a chocolate orange
I know what' ll happen, I'll carry a pear and a banana back and forth to work until I finally stew them(perhaps not the banana.....)
At the moment I'm facing a very dull MS report, I've been sat at the computer playing card games.......how can I let a report take 2 hours to complete  :eek:0 -
Frozen bananas are quite nice, if you get desperate for something to do with them - you just peel them, shove a lolly stick in them and bung them in the freezer, on a baking tray covered in greaseproof paper. You can chocolate-dip them too - just freeze them for an hour, take them out, dip in melted chocolate and put them back in the freeer again. :T"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
