Lexmark Cartridges Thread

I have just bought a Lexmark Z1480 from Currys and then been told by my normal ink supplier that Lexmark have done a deal with PC World so that only they and their sister companies can sell the ink cartridges. (I can't even find them on the Lexmark website). Needless to say I took the printer back and exchanged it for an Epson. Does anyone know if this is true? Seems like a step too far to me in the great printer ink rip-off.

I bought a black No 50 Lexmark cartridge from Wilkinsons today. It was marked down 75% at £3.25.

Does anyone know if this cartridge can be refilled when it runs out and could I do it myself with one of the injector kits on the market?

I also have a Brother DCP 340 and that's brilliant as I can refill it using one of the cheap bottle and injector kits.

None of the online retailers seem to carry the cartidges I need for the 4580. I think they have done an exclusive deal with pcworld.

You need the number 2 and 3 cartridges which I think have been replaced by the 41 and 42 cartridges. Just Google ( you need to put the X in front of 4850eg, http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGIH_en-GBGB261GB261&q=lexmark+41+and+42&meta=

Made the mistake of ordering from the cartridgepeople - they took 4 days to despatch and then it went missing in the post. Their answer was that they couldn't do anything for 15 working days - Royal Mail don't deem it lost until then.

So no Ink and no refund for 25 days - so much for their website promise!

We bought my printer whilst it was on offer - silly mistake! The ink cartridges it uses is Lexmark 2 and Lexmark 3 - both of them are very hard to find and very expensive! They're generally around £23 each.
