I've just realised that person's posts have disappeared...they deleted them (or they got removed?) so I look a bit crazy now talking to myself about troubling people lool0

I run two ladies clubs and we raise a lot of money for charity. We usually write out letters and personally take them to the local shops restaurants hairdressers etc.We explain on letter what we are doing and who for and we call back a week later to see if there are any donations. We usually get a lot of vouchers which we do not put in raffle we do a prize bingo. You can buy flyers in pound shop and use a toy bingo. We also promise on our letter that we will put names of all shops etc. contributing on a large poster at the hall which we do.After the event we put a notice of thanks in local shops and hall also announcing how much we have made for our cause.Other ideas are lucky dips, get someone to make a cake (make sure it is wrapped) and get people to guess weight for 20p a go. Or how many sweets in jar guess the name of teddy. If you get o lot of things auction some. The supermarkets will often give a voucher but you usually have to write in.
Also you can make money on quiz nights without too much outlay. Good luck0 -
About freecycle, there is an option on the page for your local group so you can turn off the email messages. Then you can just use the webpage to look for things or ask. There is a thread all about freecycle on this site....

Hi, there - I am fundraising at the moment for a little girl in my family needed treatment for the type of cancer she has - in America.
I did a tabletop sale early October and raised £1338, which I thought was brill.
I collected unwanted items of friends, family and freecycle. I took out anything that was new and used it as tombola.
I had book, clothes, videos/cds/dvds, electricals, 2 toys, 2 bric-a-brac stalls
I had a name the teddy stall with a teddy tombola and then the main tombola.
I also had a cake stall that sold out in 2 hours - people offered to make me lots of cakes for the event. Also refreshments - teas (100 tbags 99p in 99p shop) - charged 50p for cup of tea.
Luckily I managed to get the hire of the room free, but that was a one off.
Just ask people to have a good clear out of things they don't use, clothes they don't wear. Maybe best after xmas when people have to have a de-clutter to make room for the new toys and clothes.
Good luck.0
