I've had some great sun specs made up by https://www.tigereyes.co.uk. They do loads of sports wear, reading glasses and normal glasses too I think - very quick and great service. Prices are better than anywhere so recommended!

Will someone please answer my question about how they take measurements of your head, ears and pupil distances over the Internet in order fit your new specs?Practising Scrooge and stingy old miser.0

I really wouldn't like to take the risk that frames bought remotely would fit me comfortably and that the lenses would be produced correctly. Spectacles are too important to me for that.Practising Scrooge and stingy old miser.0 -
They've only made adjustments to mine when they are fitting them in-store. Once you buy them online you just go into any opticians to have them fitted. Most of them don't charge you for this. They'll probably start soon. Glasses sold online tend to have the frame dimensions displayed so you can work what size you want from measure an old pair of glasses or measure your head and ears if you want.
You could always get a pair of glasses produced in this country that were dodgy as well. But each to his or her own. I bought a two pairs of glasses in Specsavers this cost me almost four hundred pounds because of my prescription and they had an offer on as well. Part of one of these fell off before a year was up and I didn't have time to take them back. I'm always having bits falling off glasses because I wear them constantly. These glasses that were made in this country took almost three weeks to get to me.
By contrast I bought a pair in Pakistan, they took eight days to get to me and cost a twentieth of the price. If they're not perfect - so what? I've spent a fortune and still not had perfect glasses. I can still go and buy another 19 pairs before I get up to what I spent the last time I bought glasses from the high street.0 -

How would you go about explaining that you've brought some glasses off the internet, and still get a high street opticians to adjust them for you? I would have thought most of them would tell you to "hop it"
This is one of the main reasons I haven't brought glasses off the "net" yet.0 -
Well normally you'd be able to carefully omit imformation ie.
"Hi I get my eyeschecked at specsavers and these glasses that I wear need adjusting."
"Hi I'm a Specsavers customer and I've found out that my glasses need a little adjusting, can you do that for me as a specsavers customer?"
you wouldnt need to make it explicitly clear that the glasses werent actually bought at specsavers surely....:A Boots Tart :A0 -
I have a specs question.
As a 9month pregnant girl I've found my eyesight has detoriated really really badly. I called up specsavers who told me to come back a month after baby in case it's my hormones (apparently contact lenses can be uncomfrtable during pregnancy and eyes canchange). Ok so that means I'll be going back to specsavers around Jan since December is a bit of a mental time to go back.
So I have a HC2 form entitling me to free eye tests and an optical voucher. Although I had eyes tested in March this year, I assume since my prescription has changed that I can get another sight test in Jan for free. My question is this... if my prescription has changed can I get another optical voucher as I will need new glasses?
Can i combine an optical voucher with my student discount AND the 241 thing if it's still going in Specsavers in Jan? I'd worship specsavers if i managed to get two pairs worth £100 each for £30 each!! I'm not really looking to buy online though... i find it hard enough to find glasses that suit me!:A Boots Tart :A0 -

Or you can get a friend to help you. Google is a useful source of information. I've never seen anything where they need measurements of the head and ears. What would they need that for?
Look at the inside of the arms of your glasses.
One of the arms should have some information printed on it.
Amongst this information will be a pair of two digit numbers eg
50-18
55/21
45 20
The first number represents the length of the arm.
The second number represents the width of the bridge ie the gap between the lenses at the front.
Just use the sizes on an old pair which you are comfortable with when ordering your new pair.0
