I recently bought a pair of bifocals with anti glare and clip on sunglasses for $180. at Walmart, however when I returned to Uk there was a problem - I went to my local Walmart superstore and they could not correct the problem so they completely remade the glassses and gave me a refund of the rate of exchange difference in price - service was excellent0

I'm really thinking about buying some specs from Googles4u.com. I have a bit of an odd prescription (I have a prism in one of my lenses) so I'm a bit worried about ordering from them. I contacted them about this, and they seemed ok about it. It's just I don't have a lot of luck with my glasses.
What do you do if the glasses don't fit properly? Where can you go to get them adjusted? Thanks again0 -

I have v dodgy eyes and over the years (50+) have had some glasses made up in High Street opticians which were wrongly prescribed/dispensed. This year I went to a reputable chain and had test and glasses (£360). When I tried them on the result was worse than my previous pair and to cut a long story short ended up having fresh glasses to prescription, then retested, new glasses to that prescription etc. and finally money back. In total the chain made four sets of glasses, none of which were any improvement on my old pair. I then went down the road to Specsavers who tested me and made me a fresh pair (£170). When I put those on I had 20/20 vision immediately. I shudder to think what problems I would have had if I had ordered from Hong Kong. If you need glasses to see where you are going it is false economy to try for the cheapest, to be able to sit in the shop until the optician fixes things or you get a refund is worth lots of money.
:wall:
Costco may look like it would not have great service (because they are so cheap and their shops are huge barns), but in my opinion (backed up by other customers - see other threads on Costco) they have the best customer service of ANY retailer in the UK.koru0 -

I bought a new pair of glasses on Saturday 8 October from Opticians Express. I placed the order and walked down the road and looked in The Eye Society which had advertisements for 25% off and saw the glasses i had just ordered which was costing me £130.00 in total. The same pair at the eye society was £89.95 including lenses and had 25% discount on top of that.
What's the address of The Eye Society please? This may be helpful to others with complex prescriptions who prefer a High Street optician.0 -
How can you buy varifocals on line? Each time I have ought them I have had to have little black dots marked on the lens of the frame I was buying so that the lens could be made to suit my needs. That cannot be done on-line can it.0

As the start of September and 10 day before my holiday I realised that my sunglasses were 4 years old and ready to be replaced and as I had just 6 month before had my eyes tested I knew that my presription was O K so I found perfectspecs.co.uk & for £25 plus £2.50 postage I sent for A new pair. Only when I had filled in and sent for them did I See that they stated that delivery was 1 to 2 week so I e-mailed them to verify that they would be with me before I went on holiday, They e-mailed me back and kept me informed of my order through all the stages even e-mailing me to confirm there dispatch on the Thursday & that I would have them by the Friday before I left on the Sunday.
The glasses were very good and in a modern stile, I can recomend them0 -
Sorry that should read bought not ought. First post and I get it wrong.0

If you're going on holiday to Asia, Middle East, Greece, Turkey or Cyprus take your prescription with you and check out the prices. Glasses can be made very quickly at low cost and you can try on the frames in advance.0

Hi,
I am keen to order glasses on the internet, only I have a stigmatism in one eye. I would be really grateful if someone could tell me whether I can just order standard lenses or if I need something different- all these bifocal, varifocal words etc I find very confusing!
Thanks in advance, Sarah.Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -
I have astigmatism - it's where the curvature of the eye is different top to bottom from left to right. It's very common.
Bifocals and varifocals are generally for older people i think. You have a different strength lens at the bottom of the glasses for seeing closer objects like something you're reading.
All the info you need is on your prescription.0
