A valid argument, looked at from the Utility companies point of view!

Looked at from the no one's side - just stating the facts

Likewise(and understandably) Martin has to make this site pay and he makes no secret that the comparison networks are a source of revenue.

I think you'll find that his ethos is primarily to benefit the consumer and any profit is an aside to assist in this message.

However one can argue that any form of advertising is parasitic in the strict sense of the word. i.e. it might help the merchant but it is the consumer that pays in the end.

Before cashback sites - Yes. Now the consumer and merchant can benefit. Symbiosis more than parasitic!

In any case the majority of the commission goes to USwitch and not the consumer.

With USwitch - Yes. Quidco, 'apparently' not (if you believe this..).

A non-profit making company like Ebico does not advertise or pay commission.

The merry go round of serial switchers, thus entailing additional staff to handle the accounts, issue has not been addressed???

There will always be people like me (and others) who will 'play the system' as we have every right to do. However, I feel we are in the minority and certainly not in a percentage that would necessitate the additional manpower you hint at.

On reflection I really do believe the term parasitic is justified! However if you prefer unnecessary;)

Anyway - off topic - shall we get back;)

I've mentioned elsewhere that the profit these companies make is in double figures per customer, not triple.
The costs of changing supplier are not just the sweenter/commision etc, but all the admin that goes along with the switch (and fixing things when the switch stalls/goes wrong - far too common).
So while we may get £60, Quidco get £5 (I think), all the people in the middle get paid for both suppliers & the middlemen (ecoes & XOserve, meter readers, meter operators etc).
Hopefully this expense will lead to suppliers focussing on keeping the customers they have.

Your points are immaterial to the visitors here:

    1) This site is for moneysavers. It makes no difference to moneysavers whether or not comparison networks are a source of income for Martin.

    2) Again, whether or not a site like quidco is parasitic is again not the slightest concern to moneysavers. However you chose to name quidco, which is a co-operative venture. So abusing them with name calling also means you abuse their moneysaving members!

That really is a rather silly post!

I suggest you look up the definition of the term 'Parasitic'. When you do, you will find it is not a term of abuse.

Your incorrect assumption that it was meant as a term of abuse is as stupid as the rest of your post.

If you also bothered to read my first post I clearly stated:
Whilst not being critical of you personally for taking advantage of a crazy system,

Now as you obviously haven't understood the point about money-saving, let me spell it out for you - S L O W L Y.

Anything that adds extra cost to a product, means it costs more money for the consumer - that means us money-savers!

So all the commission that encourages 'serial swoppers' - paid via Quidco or the Comparison networks, and the extra staff to handle the new accounts is eventually paid for by us 'money savers'

Have you now got that? I mean understood the implication for money-savers?

If not I will try again.

Everyone is entitled to respond to a post.

But calling people "silly", "stupid", and posting in your patronising manner (eg "S L O W L Y") only leads to antagonism.

(No-one can argue that you will save money by switching as often as you can and collecting the cashback each time)

Well I suggest that you don't accuse someone of abusing members of this forum.

I don't like being called silly, stupid or a parasite for that matter, and doubt anyone else would.

You can object to posters opinions without being objectionable.

So, if I have what your saying right, sometimes you are so much more worse off with switchig to a certain pay plan that the cashback only just compensates for this?

I'm very surprised if you come out just even with this sort of strategy, TBH. It's possible that you may only be with any given supplier for 2 months. Surely one supplier can't be £36/mth more expensive than another?? I do realise it would maybe depend on the level of useage...
    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
