The reason why they ended up with this car is because they mainly sell ex-lease cars which have finished their job with the initial user. This isn't such a bad thing but lease companies like any company look to cut corners where they can so if they have a big bill looming on a particular car they will off load it to auction or to someone like Autoquake who will sell it on. Don't think that there is some experienced chap in a white coat doing a thorough check on this car-its easy to find 120 things to check on a car that don't really matter, they want to turn cars over as quickly as possible so there always going to be things that slip through the net. You're getting the car a bit cheaper so its upto you to do your homework as well which in this case you rightly did. The only way to really get a car checked out properly is either to buy from a main dealer or get a car fully checked over by an independent source before buying from a dealer like Autoquake. They won't encourage this because it takes up their valueable time therefore pushing there own checking system on you but it won't be that thorough as this case shows.
I've been in this business all of my life and sell hundreds of cars a year. The internet is great for finding cars but don't buy online in this way, by all means use Autoquake I'm sure they're fine really but do go and see the car have a tet drive and get it checked out by an expert before you buy it. If not swallow the extra money and buy it from a main dealer especially if its under 3 years old.0 -
My personal experience with Autoquake started nearly 1 year ago.
I saw the car on their ebay site, went to their own site, saw the pictures, paid the deposit. Why pay the deposit?? well because it was the car i was after, i had seen the description, viewed the photos, was aware of the service history gaps but hey it was much cheaper than any other around...and 1 year on still is!!!
There are plenty of people who have had good experiences...most wont rant and rave about it...lets face it consumer revenge...great....consumer praise...oh its just not interesting is it...so why write about it.
Like lots of things when things go well not everyone writes about it....but have a bad experience and the whole world has to know. Its not a bad thing...but I dont think its a good balance. Thats why i'm writing.
I bought nearly a year ago, yes I would buy again. Yes their set up looks awful...especially if you arrive by train as i did from Cornwall to their Birmingham office.
I arrived late afternoon, they knew I was coming that day as I had kept them informed..I had to wait whilst a couple of other people were being dealt with but when you get there.....you'll understand!! Its like a major Airport carpark!
My car was driven round to the portakabin, then I was just left to have a look around it...no pressure, no hassle, no problems....there were a few niggles but i wasnt buying a new car! The history only went up to 48K and it had 69K so what!
Most modern cars tell you when they need servicing...mine said it had another 8K before it needed it...personally I couldnt wait to pay the remainder of the balance and just drive it home.....Its a Blue Metallic Alfa GT 05 plate and its still in fantastic condition and still drives like a dream........THANKYOU AUTOQUAKE.0 -

One thing concerning me....the number of ex-lease/company cars this company have sold/are selling with poor service histories. Until Dec 2007 ( now car allowance) I had the use of company cars for over 20 years. As it did not cost ME anything, all servicing intervals were acknowledged. But I have noticed several posters commenting on overdue services, etc,. I just cant believe that any fleet manager would allow this. Company policies usually state that part of having a company car is that the driver adheres to sevice requirements, as well as the general safety issues.0

I'm not trying to convince anyone...we all have to make up our own minds in the end...some people will always have a bad time on holiday and complain others will be content that its not raining!!
I am a director of a local land surveying firm in Cornwall near the Eden project..nowhere near Autoquake...I have no wish to sell them....Just drive them.
Feel free to look me up....you can even see my lovely Autoquake car if you like!
Kind Regards

Have you had a bad experience with Autoquake........I apologise in advance if you have...I haven't read all the posts just skimmed!
You are of course quite correct, Autoquake do employ me. I run the Land Survey Division In Cornwall for them.....if you ever need any planning permissions, building elevations draw, NIA, GIA, Railway Surveys with fully qualified PTS staff then contact the SW division of Autoquake......really!! muppetry at its best....
I use the term Muppetry all the time and its not meant to cause you any offence, you are of course perfectly entitled to your opinions thats what these boards are for....so lets not fill them with more twaddle and let those that have had an experience write.....you all must know though....that most satisfied customers cant be bothered to write....as we dont have a problem that needs sorting.
Kind Regards

Absolute rubbish! I read this forum a lot but felt I should post my positive feedback re AQ after reading all the negative comments on here.
I don't work for AQ and have nothing to do with them, other than buying a car from them. However, I do work in retail and therefore understand the importance of balanced and fair feedback!
Indeed I came across this thread whilst researching a different car dealer who incidentally has no good feedback whatsoever and this (rightly or wrongly) has put me off from buying.
At the end of the day if you don't believe me then that's up to you but don't suggest I'm a liar!0
