  • Jase, how can you say this thread is unrepresentative? Doesn't that undermine the whole point of it? If Tesco's starting selling rotten cabbages and people created a thread about it, you couldn't then say that because Tesco's sell millions of cabbages the comments don't count.
Autoquake sell a perfect world on their website which is far from reality. Buying a good used car can be a tricky job for someone like myself, although Autoquake go on about how easy and approachable they are on their website, the reality for their potential customers arriving to see their new car is an opposite customer experience. You will find a complete lack of any care, attention or concern with their 'hands off' approach. 'Its just a car, no you can't test it, its a bit cheaper than the bloke down road, get in it and go home or f*** off.' And yes I speak from experience, one of the worst days of my life.
I think its this disparity which seems to upset most people and leads to obvious problems with their vehicles.

ceeahbee, you have summed up perfectly the whole problem with Autoquake.

That was exactly my experience too. I started the day a happy, smiling person with ten grand in my pocket to buy a used car. Just like one of those nice people on the Autoquake website - you know, the smiling couple who look so nice and trustworthy.

I finished the day a furious, bitter and resentful person, phoning my solicitor just to get back the money that Autoquake was trying to steal from me by making false claims about their cars.

What's amazing is that the Autoquake management either don't know or don't care about the reality of what goes on in their company. They prefer to maintain this massive fictional reality where everyone is happy and nobody complains.
    Bad idea!!

Jase, my dear boy, this thread is NOT unrepresentative.

*Any* thread such as this, about *any* company, is unrepresentative by definition.
It is you who are unrepresentative, because you monitor this site hourly and you jump to the defence of Autoquake whenever a real person expresses a genuine opinion.
No, I periodically revisit this thread to unstick your needle, my dear boy -- and unlike you I make a contribution elsewhere in case you hadn't noticed.
You also use A-level marketing terminology such as "smooth buying experience" which kind of suggests to me that you are yourself part of the wonderful world of Autoquake.
I am merely paraphrasing some of the comments made on the thread, by all the single-subject posters on both sides.
And why pretend that Autoquake cars are 40% cheaper than dealer cars? That is absurd.
Try telling that to the local dealer who was after £6995 for an 06 plate Mondeo when I was looking around.
Autoquake cars are on average £1k less than dealer cars, but then the Autoquake customer has to pay:
    Admin fee £150
    Warranty £300
    Breakdown cover £80
    Overdue Service £250
    Missing key £50
And you say my comment is absurd -- this is almost word for word the patter that one dealer stated to me. You sure you're not a dealer? :rotfl:

3 month warranty is as I would get at independent, so that is false. Breakdown cover is not given for free at independent, so that is false. Overdue service -- false on the vehicle I bought. Missing key was curiously present on my car. Add to that the suspicious lack of body damage on my Focus, and that's 1 for 6. Nice bit of spin Mr Dealer.
In other words THERE IS NO SAVING. Autoquake are MORE expensive.
No, I'm still seeing £3650 vs between £5-7000 depending on dealer in my case. You'll have to do better than that.
And finally, you do not "take a chance" buying a car from a retailer, whether Autoquake or anyone else. You are covered by UK consumer law - which says the car must be as described, and must be free of defects. If the retailer breaks this law, you get your money back. There is no risk, no chance, no danger for the buyer at all.
    Yeah, and pigs fly.
Please give my regards to Dermott and the team.
Oh do shove that old record where the sun doesn't shine won't you. You're boring me now.

The interesting thing is that you're the one who seems to be on first-name terms with this outfit. Hmmm.

As I said, when someone comes onto any site and makes one post, that person's viewpoint is questionable because anyone can come here and spout, regardless of their agenda.

Delete all those posts from single posters (who by definition cannot be relied on because they aren't vetted) and this thread would be a lot smaller.

Any party, on either side can skew the overall impression.

Have a look at Parker's forum. To read their ownership ordeals section you'd think that 9/10 of all car faults are Renault dCi engines blowing up. Now I dislike Renaults but are they really THAT bad? Nah.

Alcan started this rubbish, by implying that anyone prepared to take any viewpoint other than "Autoquake are evil" is automatically a stooge. Given his one-tracked comments, I'd argue that it is he that is a disgruntled dealer.

So, let us summarise the views of our friend Jase.

    1. He has no connection to Autoquake, but he likes to use their terminology in the interests of "paraphrasing."

    2. He regards any negative feedback on Autoquake as "rubbish...evil...questionable...unrepresentative...a disgruntled dealer...an agenda."

    3. He only visits here "periodically" but he still jumps to the defence of Autoquake within 3 hours of any negative comment.

    4. He seriously believes that Autoquake prices are 40% lower than dealer prices.

    5. He seriously believes that the law of the United Kingdom does not apply to used car sales.

    6. He has no connection to Autoquake, but he recognises the name 'Dermott' as being one of their managers.

Jase, why can't you and the Autoquake team understand that the people who disagree with you are not "disgruntled dealers" ... we are disgruntled CUSTOMERS! We've been ripped off and we don't like it. Now we're telling the world.

Why is that so hard to accept?
  • ALCAN why is your agenda any different?
You post only to rubbish AQ. I'd suggest you have an agenda rather than genuine reason for posting.

I'm not for or against Autoquake (I have never bought from them and never will), but jase mentions Mondeo's at £6995 when he was looking but then goes on to mention that there is no bodywork damage on his Focus ?
And as for genuinecarconsumer he thinks he bought an Audi exec and he thinks his wife has an X5 ?
But what I really can't fathom out is, if the cars are so cheap, why would you need gap insurance ?
Oh, and for what it's worth, I had a lovely cup of black coffee at Lexus Bradford and customer service second to none.
    ML.

    MrRedundant

Sorry to point out the blindingly obvious, but of course I have an agenda.

My agenda is that Autoquake tried to steal from me, and I am unhappy about that.

Now I am telling other people about Autoquake, and sharing my opinion.

In my world, this is a "genuine reason for posting."

    This is my agenda.

Of course, I am not a retired civil servant with a generous pension, but my opinions still count.

I can see that you, MrRedundant, are not an Autoquake stooge or long-term 'sleeper' personality, unlike Jase1 or many others.

I can only suggest that you try buying a car from Autoquake, and then give us your opinion of your experience.

    I look forward to it.

Really cannott for the life of me understand these moans from elsewhere. .

    Absolutely beyond parody.
  • When newbie posters appear out of the woodwork and start praising someone who others are deriding then you have to question the intelligence of that person. In fact, they are treating us with contempt if they truly believe that someone had an "exceptional buying experience" (excuse me while I throw up) and then decided they must tell the world and then by chance, decided to track down a site where critique is the norm and then an ancient thread which painted a negative picture which so sharply contrasts with their recent bargain busting experience.
