Using a portacabin for an office is exactly what Easyjet also does, it's good business to keep costs down and pass savings on to customers.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

If you are in Leeds, why didn't you try JCT600 ex fleet. They sell a lot of their cars and you aren't paying a middleman.

I'm back! I went to Autoquake's Leeds depot at lunchtime and collected my car. All was as agreed - they had fixed a few paint scuffs for me and replaced a damaged number plate. The car is very clean, just as when I viewed it a week ago.

I'm booking my BMW into a local specialist for it's checks (we do this as standard with any car we buy) and will report back again with the report results. So far I've driven it around 15 miles and it's lovely, I'm very pleased with it.

As Autoquake said, getting the tax sorted was very easy. I took advantage of their free 7 day insurance cover offer and the cover note was sent to Autoquake within 1 hour. After leaving them I drove straight to the post office and produced the cover note, MOT & V5 and obtained my tax disc.

One thing to note is that you need to sort out your insurance at least a few hours in advance - it took a while on the phone to Aviva's Indian call centre. Of course, I could have just taken out my normal insurance instead!

So far, all has gone smoothly with Autoquake.

PS - Happywarmgun - I asked my car specialist (a Leeds independant BMW/Merc/Audi) to advise me re whether to take the extended warranty. Car Care Plan faxed the T&C's and exclusions through to them and they recommended that I take the warranty. (I do what they say as they have looked after all our cars for 10 years - we have several.) So I bought the 3 year warranty.
  • My dad alerted me to Autoquake so i thought i would have a nose, when i spotted a grey ford focus for a cracking price. I went to my local ford dealer and asked if he had anything around the same price and he never believed that i could get that paticular car for that price so i showed him the website, his advice was get on your way to birmingham to pick it up, so i did.

When you get there it is just a portacabin and a car park, but how else are they sposed to bring you cheaper prices and savings? I arrived there on the wednesday after paying £120 to have the car transfered from leeds to birmingham, i bought the car on finance which they sorted everything out for me. Got there signed the paperwork and drove away.

Its been 3 months on and i have to say i haven't had 1 problem with the car, they were abit pushy with the warranty (which didnt include much repairs) but i did decide to take out the gap insurance for £6.92 a month.
But the car is bulletproof 'touch wood' so for anyone whos thinking of buying a car from here, aslong as you go and check the car out then it really isn't a problem, and for anyone who thinks i work for autoquake i dont.

    Thanks for reading.

They are near Yeadon (apperley bridge). You have to check on their website, which changes all the time, and if you see something you are interested in you have to phone the Disposals Manager. I don't think they have a showroom as such.

  • Hi All,

As promised in earlier posts I have supplied a blow by blow account of my car purchase from Autoquake in Leeds.

To conclude: My BMW 5 series bought at Autoquake on Friday is now at the BMW specialists for after sales checks. I have just spoken to the mechanic - he says the front brake pads will require changing in 10,000 miles and two of the tyres will need replacing in the near future. The car is in excellent condition and needs no immediate repairs or maintenance.

It would appear that all the non-Autoquake customers who have been very negative during this thread have been rather foolish.

Autoquake Leeds have supplied me with a car that is in excellent condition for a great price. There has been nothing wrong with their service or their sales strategies.

Just to re-cap... I am a professional salesperson (pharma) and specialise in consumer rights for a large Leeds residents association. I can find no fault with Autoquake and will be happy to recommend them to my friends.

Thanks for your pointless comment but i work in a warehouse for asda so think what you like.
  • An update: I bought my Seat from autoquake knowing it was due a service. This meant it went in within days of me picking it up. They did find something in the service (an intercoolant pipe was leaking) which cost 250 quid. The wipers were also in poor nick (cheap enough) and the break pads 70% worn (though roadworthy). Given it was a main dealer, and including the cost of the actual service this cost me £560 to put right.

Now then given my car was 2 to 2.5k cheaper than equivalent stock listed by the dealers, and given that I now believe it is in exactly the same nick it would be had I got it from a dealer - I'm still feel I am significantly 'up' on the deal.

    I'm happy.
  • So I'm teetering on the brink of a sale with Autoquake but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't experiencing slight anxiety mixed with supressed excitement at my potential purchase. It has to be said that most of the anxiety has materialised after reading some of the messages on this site! But hey ho this would be a crap and pointless entry if I bailed purely on just the negatives I've read when there does appear to be plenty of positives to counteract them plus my dealings with Autoquake so far have reassured me. I've had dealings with one bloke really from the very beginning, Mike. He's been friendly, not at all pushy and gave me his direct line so I could call anytime with any queries I had. Which I did and each time he picked up straightaway and sorted me out. So the cars being delievered first week in January for my 7 day trial. Fingers crossed Keep u posted
