It is so obvious that some of the Autoquake employees have logged under her in various disguises to balance up this thread it is laughable.
    .

People have different experiences using companies so while you will mostly read complaints about companies some people will post to give a more balanced view.

In addition the moneysavingexpert forums can be found by looking on google.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

  • I am amazed by some of the comments on this forum about autoquake, i'm not sure what people expect when purchasing a used car, i must stress i do not work nor have ever worked for them.

A post from a gentlemen mentioned that autoquake never offered him a lift to the post office to get his tax, why would they? they are there to sell cars not to act as a taxi service for customers!

Also some people have mentioned about premises, how do you think main dealers pay for there plush air conditioned large offices and showrooms? by charging the customers over the top prices which most of you seem very happy to pay, i think people are missing the point here, if the car is cheap does it matter where or how you buy it, surely it is better to spend £2000 less and get exactly the same car as you would from the main dealer.

eg , a 06 plate laguna with full service is the same car wherever it is sold, however if you buy from a main dealer you will be charged lots more for the privilage of drinking there coffee, sitting at there desk , paying for there big fat profits, doesnt make any sense does it.

    be realistic..............
  • Follow up to my post a few days ago...

On Tuesday morning Autoquake called to verify that the payment had gone through and said that the delivery company would be in touch later on.

The delivery company called an hour or so later and said they could deliver the car the next morning at around 8am which worked really well for me. The driver called up later in the day to confirm timings.

The next morning the car arrived promptly with a helpful/friendly driver. He gave us time to inspect the vehicle. All looked good with it. There were some minor surface scratches that you'd expect with a vehicle of that age but there was one scratch that should have been mentioned with vehicle description and wasn't visible in any of the photographs.

I mailed them yesterday morning with photos of the scratch and a copy of the delivery driver's contract note which showed the damage was on the vehicle when he collected it from them.

They called back this morning, were v.polite, and apologised for the damage and assured me that it didn't leave them in that condition. I'm not convinced but as long as it gets resolved then it's not of importance to me.

They gave me the contact details of a national mobile scratch repair company who will come out and remove it. Autoquake will pay the scratch repair in full.

So, some !!!!-ups but they've done all they can to recitify problems and the end result is a happy customer with a great car at a great price. The retail book price for the car is £8900 - £9300 and I got it for just under £8400 in the end, that price includes a 24 month warranty and the 130 mile delivery.

The only annoyance with the car now is having to get down to a local DVLA office to change the reg class from "disabled". This will apply to everyone/anyone who buys an ex mobility or disabled registered vehicle and isn't disabled themselves. Until that's done you won't be able to tax the vehicle.
  • I have posted several times and thought I'd see more recent comments as I am considering replacing my car (bought my wife's car from Autoquake).

We are still very happy with our Mazda that we (I!) bought from Autoquake. Not had any problems so can't comment on the warranty.

I find it interesting that people are worried about reserving without viewing as I'm convinced most people are like me and look around the car, kick the tyres, start the engine, drive 1 mile and then buy it anyway!

I'm seriously considering autoquake again so that speaks for itself.

It still amazes me that anyone who has had a good experience is accused of being an employee by the people who haven't even bought a car from Autoquake:rotfl:
  • I am looking to buy an inexpensive car-and my search online keeps taking me to Autoquake as the best option and i dont intend to go to Birmingham. I plan to do it online.

I will appreciate if we can have more positive experiences of people.

I dont have a lot of money and so it is important i get it right!!

I found robbieb34's post on page 7 worth my time.

I have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of Autoquake other than from looking at this thread & their own website.

What I would say is this:-

    1. Used car dealers only get my custom where I can use my credit card so that I have the credit card's English law protection. Seems Autoquakedo not accept credit cards on delivered vehicles. No credit card acceptance for delivered car orders? Then no business from me. Sorry.

    2. All - Distance Selling Regulations & 7 days cooling off period
    http://www.oft.gov.uk/advice_and_resources/resource_base/legal/distance-selling-regulations/

    3. Road tax / VED: you are not allowed to drive on the public highway without this having been paid for the date at which you intend to drive. Bear in mind also that there are many small automated cameras set up along the roads which capture registration plates & instantly check them against a database to see if the vehicle has current tax, MOT and insurance. Do not therefore under any circumstances "chance it". Also be aware that if you take out your own short term insurance, sometimes a post office will not accept a home laser printed insurance certificate or cover note. Assume nothing! Check before you commit to purchase from whichever dealer you choose to buy from because the authorities usually do not accept any excuse whatsoever for driving without road tax, insurance, MOT, licence, etc. And if you're stopped by the police on suspicion of no insurance your car will now likely be instantly seized (police vehicles may automatically check all this from your vehicle reg as they drive behind or in front of you using their in-car computer/radio).

I came up on this thread because I was investigating Autoquake.com and this is what came up on Google.

I've spent probably the good part of 2 hours reading all these posts, couple of things spring to mind.

Why are people so surprised that all the positive praise is from people with less than a 50 profile?

There's only a couple of thousand people at most who have brought from Autoquake and only probably a couple of thousand uses on this site with more than a 50+ post profile.

The chances that they bought from Autoquake are in Lotto winners realmsJ

A couple of posters have suggested that Autoquake employees have contributed to this topic. After reading all these posts I'm more inclined to think there are more 'Competitors' wading in with negative opinions. Some have given far too much insight than would be expected from a casual bystander and have struck me that they have an ingrained dislike to a certain way of doing things. We're all guilty of this to a degree. I install telecom systems and get fed up with eastern Europeans installing on 'My Patch' for less money and doing an inferior job. The reality is they're probably just as skilled as I am and they can speak 2 Languages!! I'm not going there....I digress.

    What have I learnt?

Having to get to the post office with out assistance is not a big problem for an Adult. In fact I think my 11 year old daughter could have worked this out.

As long as you have insurance and the car is MOT'ed. If you decide to take a chance and drive and get caught you won’t have your car seized. What ever you may think we are not yet living in an Orwellian state. At most you will get a £60 fine. If you’re clever you will book an MOT for the destination you’re driving to and be legitJ You can always cancel when you get home safely

Anyway, I’m probably more inclined to give Autoquake a chance because of the 7 Day guarantee and the fact that if I kick up a stink here, I’ll probably get things sorted judging from passed responses.

I do not work for Autoquake but if they have any jobs or just some spare cash I’ll be more than happy to except!
  • I have just ordered a Car from Autoquake. The ad says the car has done approx 5200 miles so it should be in a near new condition. In reality, the price is only discounted by approx 600 pounds.....so not a massive number...

I must admit my only concern is if the mileage on the car is genuine and that their point check is actually a real thorough check and not some doggy claim to increase sales.......

I am still a bit skeptical about the whole deal and the only reason I have gone ahead is because there is a 7 day money back guarantee.....I am also considering getting a full AA check done on it once it arrives.....

Will keep you all posted as things progress.......

    Hi All,
I'm looking for a new company car (opt out) and a friend recommended Autoquake to me yesterday - a friend of his had had a good deal there.

So yesterday I found a nice BMW and reserved it for the £100. As a fleet driver myself, I have no reservations about buying a former fleet car as most high grade reps will be advanced driver trained and have the car well looked after.

This morning things have started to look a bit iffy! My appt to view the BMW is at 11.30am and last night I also reserved an Audi hoping to see the cars together and decide between them. I e-mailed them about it last night and they phoned me back about 9.30am. That's apparently a big problem for Autoquake! They have a company policy that allows a customer to only view one vehicle a day - so I'd have to travel back to their premises on another day to see the Audi.

I have asked for a manager to phone me back and explain this rather unbelievable policy - they said they would ask a member of Leeds depot staff to call me.

This policy prompted me to start checking them out and I ended up here and found all the negative feedback.

I'll let you know what happens...

10.25am - have just spoken to them again and the depot have agreed that I can see both cars (I have paid the £100 reservation on each already) and so I'll go ahead with the viewing.

1.45pm - I've just got home from Leeds Autoquake which is at the old Vickers tank factory (for those who know the area.) The cars are stored inside the huge warehouse which makes viewing slightly more pleasant in this cold weather. I checked over both the BMW and the Audi at leisure and then took the BMW for a test drive around their large car park. There was also time to look over the bodywork again in the sunlight. Both cars were as described, with the Audi being in excellent condition (almost as new at 3 years old) and the BMW having stone chips on the front but in otherwise good condition. I have paid my 10% deposit on the BMW 5 series and need to complete the sale by next Thurs or my deposit will be refunded. They are refunding the £100 reservation fee I paid for the Audi.

As a professional salesperson I can say that no high pressure sales techniques were used, everything seemed to be honest and above board.

I'll come back here to update you as my sale progresses.

If you are in Leeds, why didn't you try JCT600 ex fleet. They sell a lot of their cars and you aren't paying a middleman.
