here is the first fruit of Weezl's labor (or is it labour!). Seemed dishonorable not to eat it so I have and can confirm it tastes like...cucumber! The end is slightly stronger than normal but evens out in the middle...yummy!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

aww ya beat me!!
Jo have you got any staples - ie pasta, rice, flour, tinned toms etc? From what you have (if you have flour) you could easily manage me thinks...curry, chicken burgers, chicken strips, sausage casserole, pizza (HM)...if you have flour, yeast & a few pots the world is your oyster me thinks...can also use the veg in the stew & also make HM naan with coconut to impress em! Does that inspire at all?!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -

1 jar of Lea & Perrins Worcester Sauce
Couple of jars of soy sauce
Fish sauce
Tin of butterbeans
Tin of chickpeas
Schwartz sachet of lamb casserole
Schwartz sachet of morrocan lamb casserole
Schwartz sachet of bombay potato mix (totally yummy)
Gravy granules

Corn flour

OMG you are both completely amazing! I hope you do realise that I am not quite a OS'er yet, I'm learning and have been for a few months, I understand how it works, just putting it into practice
I love cooking and do it normally from scratch but I have never baked and wouldn't know what to do with a bag of flour, only got one cos DD needed some for school stuff :undecidedDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
aww Jo! Not sure I'm amazing - Weezl maybe but not me! Like you I tend to have stuff in and get stuck thinking I have nowt! So in view of your £10 sit I would get a few carrots, pots and rice or pasta and a couple tins tom. How about a quick n easy recipe which I'll make up off top of my head! Chop few potatoes into squares & par boil then drain. Put pots back in pan with a drizzle of oil or nob of butter & bash pots against pan (or is on SW use fry light!) and then put in roasting tin at 200, giving a shake after 20 mins. Meanwhile pots Get 3 chicken breasts and chop into bits...fry an onion (if you have one!) in a large pan with the moroccan spices (i usually use a wok!) then fry the chicken in it; add tin (or two if larger quanity needed) of toms and add seasoning to flav; chuck in a tin of chick peas and leave to simmer (at this stage give the pots a shake - they should start to be getting crispy by now!) and leave for 20 mins or low heat for 3/4 hr...then dish up and enjoy!
For a curry (& using up the bomby pot mix!) you could do sim but instead of moroccan spices add coconut milk or dessicated coconut and simmer with some curry powder and there you have a yummy curry! If you dont have coconut you could just use curry powder and thicken with some flour at the end. Hope that helps? Making bread is mega cheap & I have found therapeutic! Also have a peek at reipe index (here & on main) for loads of recipe ideas or google what you fancy! The quick brown bread recipe I posted taken literally mins to squidge tog and the pot bread is lovely too (my fave!)...I'm not a very good o's but since Ive started to work on it havemade major inroads & made friends along the way! Did have a few too many sweet things so will now hold back & have SW stuff...I blame mr weezl as we were trying to fatten him up but hes got hollow legs but, alas, I havent!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! In_Search_Of_Me wrote: »Oo forgot to say re the M&S etc...I think there is a general shift in society re wanting more/having it all. Possibly due to the credit crunch but also because maybe after over a decade of greed generally we are realising that it didnt make us happy? I used to literally spend an OBSCENE amount on "stuff" (still not perfect!) and now have a fit to think that I actually spent 34 on bubble bath once...ridiculous! Plus I am much, much happier than I ever was when I spent in excess of 1000 a month over what I earned although being honest at times it can be so tiring/exhausting that I do struggle to relax sometimes...not sure about others?
I work in retail ISOM, I reckon you're just one of very few who's come over to the lighter side :rotfl:
When on an average day a woman will elbow another out of the way to get her hands on the next item to buy, I don't think society is changing at all. In my last job we used to sell household gadgets, and I used to come face to face on a daily basis with people who "needed" things. These things were by no means necessary, and in some cases were justified in the customers mind by a need to downsize. No offence to those who own them on here, but many a newbie to the OS forums asks which breadmaker to buy, which yogurtmaker to try or whatever else. These may make the job easier, but you don't "need" them.... buying them just puts money in the pockets of the big businesses in another fashion.
Hope I haven't caused offence with thatSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070
