ta for the recipe!Reon the easy one sounds better than standing stirring for 20 mins! Lesley forgot to say that when I did LL I didnt cheat once and once the first week was done didnt get hungry until I'd lost about 5 stone and then got hungry and stopped loosing weight! Foodie hamper sounds lovely idea...althoug possible not a frugal option? Hope youre all ok. Where are you C...long time no see? Weezl hope you ok too?

    Hello ISOM

I'm still around - if a bit in lurkdom. Well - you've had final stage now of your "3 Steps to Wellness" Process according to my calculations - with that there operation of yours. Did it go off okay? Did you take a supportive real world friend on t'one hand or my suggestion of a strong drink or two on t'other hand? Are you feeling okay now?

Thinking I might have more spare time soon - long story - so didnt feel bad about buying 2 extra teeshirts today - well 50p each, good quality too, being sold off cheap by the League Against Cruel Sports - so got them lined-up ready if I land up having time to be more active soon - and will be very suitable ones for instantly "fitting in well" without having to open my mouth LOL!

Aw bless ya, we'll all be thinking of you, its OK to cry your eyes out, and embarrass him a little bit!!!! I'm sure all the other mums will be doing exactly the same thing ;)

Good luck with the party!! I wish I was as good as you.
The week of the 11th I have to look after 5 children all under 10 for a week, and I've been told I will have to do a kids party as its one of their birthdays....  I'm thinking of doing a bolt for the door!!!!!:rotfl: Why did I agree to this again!!!!:p .

I will definately pick up some lentils, dont really know anything about them so will throw in a couple of handfuls and a handful of oats and hope that works!!! I doubt he'll notice, he doesn't notice when I put veg in stews that he swears he hates!!!!:D

My next week of meals are going to be Chicken, mushroom and sweetcorn pie (using leftover chicken form roast), Chicken, jacket and sweetcorn (hopefully more left over chicken!),
sweet and sour and egg fried rice (hopefully left over chicken but wont hold my breath!!!, my attempt at chinese food!!!),
Pork and rice (pork ribs cooked with onion ginger and white cabbage),
Cod and chips (not sure about this one as dont know how to batter/breadcrumb fish and whether it would be more expensive than buying already prepared, it was OH's idea for me to try??),
    Lasagne,
    Stew

This is good, I make a meal plan and everyone helps me to make it cheaper :D

Lentils are going to be my money lifesaver I think, I've never actually eaten them as far as I know, so will be interesting to know if I can taste any difference.

Thanks again Shaz and everyone else x x x :j

wow 5 kids:eek: ..................keep em busy and show em who's boss:rotfl:

i must admit to buying ready to cook fish as i hate deep frying(scarey) Asda have some good deals at the mo on frozen fish i got a pack of tuna steaks about 6 i think for £2.79 and a 500g pack of prepared squid fpr less than £2

We have fishfingers once a week but fillet rather than minced and our local freezer centre sells rejects with bits of breadcrumbs missing really cheap about 20 for a £1

I always add pearl barley to stew and always do dumplings as they bulk out the stew and fill your tummy

Have just put together the "cake" its a plate of iced muffins with candles on ........well he is 17

I'll try my best!!!! Think they'll be running rings around me though!!! 4 have got be at school at 9.00, 1 has to be at school at 9.30, then picked up at 11.30, then the rest I have to pick up at 3.15, then get them all home, changed , fed and watered, entertained, bathed, bed, then up the next day for breakfasts and bathroom and off to school again! Dreading the weekend  eeeek!!!!

    Iced muffins.....nomnomnom....you're so good.

I always do dumplings too, OH says its not stew without dumplings, and I will be putting pearl barley in to thicken it up, I havent used it before, but my ex's mum used to put that in her stews and I thought it was yummy so I know I will like it :D Hopefully OH wont notice if i put less meat in it, and hopefuly it will stretch a bit further than 2 portions for once

Thanks for all your ideas Shaz.....hope the party goes well, and wish him a happy birthday from all of us!!! :D

It'll probably boil in the juices givn off from the rhubarb

When I stew rhubarb for crumbles, I never add more than a couple of tablespoons of water to a huge pan of fruit -- just enough to stop it sticking in the early minutes ;)

Are there any jam makers around? Just been making some blackberry jam, but I'm not sure how soon after bottling I should add the lids. One side of my brain says immediately so that they form a vaccuum of some sort with the heat, but the other side says that'll cause pressure to build up and cause the jars to break

it's a bit sickly sweet for me -- but then I rarely eat jam, and don't really eat any "black" fruits in any format either !!! hubby has been known to eat blackcurrant jam, so I'm hoping a couple of jars of this will do for him -- and I want to keep the other couple as a Christmas pressie for my Dad.

  • unsure re the no vinegar chutney, sorry...cw re the jam I always bottle mine immediately and put the lids on when all jars are full; that way they've cooled a bit before you put the lids on and less condensation but still warm enough to get a seal iykwim?
C...yes my friend /t did come and hold my hand and was very good at not commenting on the large size of my bottom! He's coming with me again on Monday too as it is fairly high on the pain threshold! Was also obedient and consumed alch after in the eve...must stop soon though as getting very fat again!

    Afternoon all

Had a lazy lazy morning x stitching..now taking a break before moving onto the knitting :D

Here is mums x stitch update :D

    ladywn2.th.jpg

and this is my 1st attempt at a blanky..after finding that I just can't get to grips with crochet :rotfl: I decided to knit squares... at the moment its about the size of a placemat :rotfl: ... so it will be a while before it grows up to be a blanky :p .. But its only 2 evenings work.. I sew during the day with natural light and then swap to the knitting in the evening when i don't have to see what im doing :D

Right mum says the Alan titchmarsh kitchen garden book is lovely and weell worth it.. its broken into month by month -so great if your a beginner.. mum isn't but stil says its very good :T

Foxy-tigger... mum is giving me the bonfire toffee recipe in the morning -she wants to measure the tin for you -so its the right thickness :rotfl: apparently -too thick and its a jaw breaker..too thin and its too brittle  all I know is that its nommy nommy nom nom :p I remember all us kids taking bags of it to school to share..from the age of 5 ... it is spotty dogs doo daahs :D .. and now the grandkids take it instead ...well after mum has put some aside for her kids first..even though im the youngest at 36 :D
She normally ends up making about 5 lbs of the stuff :p

Bashfull.. dumplings :j I love dumpligns... corned beef has n dumplings ..have got that planned for next week -i love it..although i could quite happily just eat the dumplings ;) - i normally get the atora veg suet... but im going to make myself have a bash with the fresh beef suet as im sure it will be much cheaper... will report back with the results :D
I do loads of soups for hubby to take in a flask for lunches and use quite a lot of pearl barley, lentils, etc.... once blitzed -hubby doesn't know they are there (not that he would care -he will eat anything :T ) -but they make them much more filling n tasty.. i love pearl barley so stick it in beef stews
I used to do 1lb of mince into shepherds pie etc and serve 2  :o .. now I bulk it out to within an inch of its life and we seem to enjoy it more :j
Want to get another savoury meat roll made next week..im going to double it up and then make some "sausage roll" sized ones with it..as I loved it cold..and I can always warm hubbies up ...
Have you had a bash at chicken n sweetcorn soup yet -hubby prefers it to the chinese takeaway ones :j plus it costs very little ;) .. i can copy the recipe I posted if you can't find it but want it ..

Shaz -hope the party goes well ....:T

right im back off to do some knitting, oooh will look through my old xmas mags first -everyone has me wanting to do xmassy stuff

have a great afternoon all.... hope weezl and bump are ok and putting their feet up ;)
