mmmhhhh......... DM and I did rabbit stew at the weekend - we didn't tell dh and kids what the meat was... the reaction was not good - "where's the meat?" "funny looking chicken" "too fiddly" ok...

mmhhh... how can I get a pig's head in the house without anyone seeing?!
  • Well I bet you're all wondering how I did with all this porcine experimentation.

Brain escalopes.... Initial thoughts were , but on actual tasting I think they could be very very nice :D. I personally still can't eat it because although the taste is lovely- buttery, livery yummy taste, I still can't quieten down the voice which is saying "they're brains!!" enough to enjoy them. Had I been ignorant and not checked in halfway through the pm I wouldn't have known and then scoffed the lot! I did manage a mouthful though.

Pigs head...:T:T:T. Just like any pork joint (but served with a smile;)). Really, it just is pork meat. Maybe slightly different fat:meat as it's lots of little muscles rather than bits of a few big ones, but taste and texture is like any pork joint. :D:D:D.
I think if slow roasted, it would be so much more interesting and fun to bring out at a dinner party. Why don't you try it?:money:

Well done Weezl, very impressed with your piggy exploits and loved the running commentary ISOM :rotfl: I actually think the brain sounds quite nice.. am I weird?:D

Erm, after all that my rundown for the day seems fairly boring!
Breakfast - branflakes, milk, raisins, half pot of yoghurt - 18p
    Lunch - red lentil curry - 15p
    Snack - pineapple & ginger muffin - 6p
Tea - omelette (two eggs - 46p, splash of milk, onions - free, 1/3 courgette - 8p, bit of grated parmesan on top, cooked in microwave), wholemeal pitta bread (12 for 80p in Sainsburys - 6p) - about 60p
Pudding/ Supper - other half of yoghurt with crumbly bits from end of packet of branflakes, raisins, one passionfruit, all mixed together - about 20p
    Total for day - £1.19

Out tomorrow so will probably have late lunch/ early dinner somewhere (hopefully courtesy of OH ;) )

Edited to add - and well done AM too! :D

Nice to hear that you enjoyed it as well AM :)

Brains - I'm with you. If served and not told I'd probably try -- but knowing what they are would put me off. As I'm the cook in our house, I'm afraid that one's just not gonna happen here !!!

Well I'm back; soap & yog done! Not sure if I did the soap right shaz...it went custardy very quickly with the hand blender! is that right? Anyway I got three bars out of that batch & may have a go at the olive oil one next! Interestingly I put blue dye in and...it came out pink lol!!
Well done on trying the brains Mr Weezl - I just couldnt do it!! Hope Mrs Weezl has done as promised and had a nice bath & hair treatment to chill after the days "distrubances"! Greta fun but exhausting! Am sitting here with Alfie purring beside me with a nice beer, having just had a bath!

Yep....I'se still pals..... hang on in there a leetle minute whilst I try and find a smilie with fingers poked down throat............;) SO glad I resisted the temptation to click on your piggie links....will continue to resist methinks (not hard)...Hang on in there whilst I eat my veggie curry (my dinner tonight). Okay - duly noted it was organic! and not wasting the world's resources....

Of course - in response to ISOM's earlier comment about ideas for next adventure.......oooooh! dont tempt me...so dont tempt me! Errrr......skipdiving anyone????:D Oooooh go on...you know you're tempted!;). I'll let you make it Marks & Spencers - rather than Lidl - honest;) Quite frankly - I'd take half a dozen skipdiving expeditions any day in preference to one session with a pigs head:D :rotfl: I know my limitations - me.

(EDIT: M.S.E. brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "The lights were on - but no-one was at home". In our case "the light is on - so they're on board" - hiya Weezl old pal...you knew I was "here" - <wink>).

Let me know when and where -- if it's a choice of one or the other, then I'm a-coming with you ;)
