Good morning frugalites.
It is still raining and the duvet on the washing line is now rather muddy so I will have to wash it
bails poor deer and poor you. I once had an argument with a cow which appeared from nowhere and ended up on my bonnet. Unfortunately, the cow was killed and my poor little car was rather squashed.
I took my nephew and family into the great metropolis yesterday. His little boy had got a crushed finger and had been going to the hospital fracture clinic every 2 weeks. Nephew lost his job a while ago so they are struggling. To get to the clinic would have meant an hour and a half on the bus each way and only 30 mins in the car so I have taken them the last 2 times. Took them to Mr A on the way home so they were delighted.
I spent £67 but that included stuff for the dinner party I am having next weekend in honour of DH. He had just finished the new dining room and it needs christening.
Just need a couple of bottles of wine and some Amaretti biscuits for the chocolate dessert I am making and thats me all set.
I am looking forward to this party but it will be very emotional as well. Both my sons and DILs will be here so the house will be full :T
I used some money off vouchers for £1.83 (had to make it up to £2) so that has gone into the holiday fund for next year :j My terramundi is getting heavy now.
The Rayburn has been out for a month now and I do miss its comforting warmth in the mornings but oil is so expensive that needs must. I do want to be able to put the heating on now and again when the temperature drops below freezing especially as I haven't got a lovely big radiator to cuddle up to now0 -
Good morning frunchkins:D
Frugal plans for today:
storecupboard lunch and tea
Go for a swim and sauna at gym
Spend as little as possible
Pick lots of tomatoes that are ready in greenhouse
Make some chutney and tomato cooking sauces with tomatoes
Clean house with stardrops and microfibre cloths
Try not to drive anywere except to gym to save petrol
make some sultana fairy cakes for DD
Managed 5 a day yesterday with:
Brekkie - porridge with prunes (1)
Lunch - tinned toms and poached egg on HM seeded bread (1)
at Gym - fresh orange juice courtesy of friend (1)
Tea - slowcooker veggie stew (3)
Supper - HM yoghurt with blackberries (2)
Expecting DD to ring any minute moaning as she made herself a packed lunch to take to work at stables and it is sitting on kitchen cupboard:rolleyes: , If she asks very nicely I may just take it to her;) as she will be out until 6pm and there is nowhere nearby to get any food from. last time she forgot her lunch she nibbled on the pony 's carrots all day:D0 -
Just got a cheque from Mr. T for my insurance claim from the burglary in July last year!!!!!!! There have been many letters and phone calls since then, but it was only when I changed insurer that they have finally decided to pay out
They wanted to put the premiums up by 50% and they hadn't even paid my claim!! Well, it made me so angry, I switched, now pay just over 1/2 what I used to for better cover, and got cashback:D
Now just got to decide what to do with it :rotfl:0 -
So much to say but no time to say it. We are leaving for our weddingmoon today and will see you in a fortnight.
Have set our holiday budget at roughly £40/day for 3 of us for the first week, and then £30/day for the second week, as hopefully we'll have some food left over.
It's all happy chaos here today.
Janey, we will be thinking a lot of you while we are away (especially when we see gnomes; that story made me laugh), and appreciating every moment.
bails, it's the age-gap. Be patient and loving. It will get better but it takes time. Sometimes a long time! I speak from experience.
everyone else, bye. Keep up with the merry frugalling. I look forward to catching up on about 50 pages when I get back. Still got packing to do so must go.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Good morning frugalers!
This is for Jumblebee
Whitewing - Have a fantastic time! Happy Wedding Day on 8/8/8
Bails - It's not the age difference, it's the fact that he's male! :rotfl:
LingoJingo - Hope you have some better luck with this insurance company and don't spend all the cashback in one place.
Janey - My washing may need to join yours in a similar 'fate'. It got drenched yesterday and was so wet I had no way of drying it off in time to bring in. I'mto say that I was so annoyed, I left it out all night!
Burl. Babe - I used my Government Gateway ID and password and that let me into the pension forecast. Can't wait to have the equivalent of £95 a week to live on! Apparently, I'm 26/30 and need another 4 years of payments to entitle me to the full amount but, I can't find anything about how to pay anything extra, such as the voluntary payments. Mind you, do I trust the Government to actually provide me with a pension in 22 years time? Does it increase if I pay for 50 years, as opposed to the minimum requirement of 30? Hmm... I can't even work out how I have paid 26 years as I didn't start paying National Insurance until I was 16Umm... oh, yeah! Oops! Bad arithmetic
Can I be 42 for a few more years? :rotfl:
Sophiesmum - have a good day and promise us all that you WILL take a bit of a break, even if it means just to decorate a Billy Can or make a papier mache pig bank.
Must dash, got post waiting to go again. have a good day to those who'll be about, have a good weekend to those who are AFS (absent from screen) and have a good time, all those who are away for a week or two, especially whitewingI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I'm really excited today as it is the start of my first proper month frugaling with targets set, now I know July spends. I am going to join the grocery challenge today. First bit of good news is that after spending all week feeling unable to pass on £63 hike in utilities per month to my lodgers(they pay an inclusive rent) I bit the bullet, thanks to advice form my dad and broached the subject today. Of course they are love peeps and totally realise what is going on 'out there' and it is all sorted and they are increasing their rent payment to include half the hike each month. This is a huge relief, becasue I never question when they want to put the heating on or anything so felt I didn't have control over use of stuff. They also agreed to look at any little ways they could frugal (like not having the gas full blast and no lid on saucepans etc.)
Off to somefield in a bit as I spotted their loo rolls half price so will stock up. I would NOT have gone to a separate shop for something like that before signing up here, so thanks again everyone for being here. :T
Bails - horrid about the deer: I had a similar experience with a cat once but a dear is a bluddy sight bigger - though hurting any animal is horrid, however much not one's fault. I suspect it was probably ok if you couldn't find it.
As for the OH & money situation - total sympathy. If it is any encouragement, I really think OH and me are beginning to sing from the same hymnsheet now and that has taken several years and suddenly turned round this last week( so early days). And as white wing says, your OH is young as well. It is still carp that you are the one having to carry this and be put in the position of 'going on about it'. I am glad you are looking now to separate you needs out and see a reward for your efforts. It may perhaps prove only to be necesary for the short term.
Oh, and get the spiral stair case! Then I will be forced to make a visit down your way:D and drool all over it:D .
I can't remember who posted yesterday re meeting their university saving targets - but well done that is fantastic.
Janey - I am a newbie this month and there is no doubt the huge affection you and your Tom inspired on here and I have been moved to tears on a number of occasion by your posts but didn't want to intrude as a newbie but now want to at show my appreciation on what you have shared and the caring I have seen on this forum.
Neighbour has just been round to say they are going away for 3 weeks & would I water their veg for them in return for picking any corgettes and carrots I want:j that ripen. It's funny isn't it, because it is doing it for someone else, I know we will be vigulant and water regularly - if only we could do that for our selves!
Off on the loo roll hunt: tragically excited:rotfl:I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

have a lovely time whitewing!
Should be a NSD today, I'm going to do a load of washing and keep everything crossed the rain has stopped for the day. I'm trying Lidl's own brand concentrated washing liquid called Formil - 20 washes for £1.09. Seems ok!
Nyk - wonder why it didn't like me on the gateway thing - odd!!!
AQA'ing today to try to get an amoun this month to live on. I keep dipping into my savings but I need to stop that. Problem is it means a long old 7 day week - permanently - just to have enough to the pay the bills."Stay Wonky":D
