    marru,
in case you are wondering where DD's parcel is, the friend who was supposed to post it last weekend rang tonight to say she had just come across it in the boot of her car as she had forgotten to post it:rolleyes:  I have been assured it will go tomorrow first thing.

Just put a stew on in slowcooker, have used the spuds from today, the carrots and chopped carrot tops, dried onions, red lentils, some soaked borlotti beans, veg stock from freezer, a HG courgette, some frozen green beans, some frozen cooked and diced turnips from a whoopsie buy ages ago, and a bag of quorn chicken pieces. Also chucked in some chilli flakes and some herbs. It will make 6.5 litres so will be enough for tea tomorrow with plenty left to freeze:D

Final few games of free bingo are playing through, not a bean has been won!
I have the slow cooker set for the leek & potato soup and will stick on a washing before going to bed but it is absolutely pouring down outside, so I'm not convinced that there'll be any good drying weather tomorrow morning.

Final electricity meter reading for the month has been done, this is how the daily average chart is looking so far:

    January - 75.16 per day
    February - 68.89 per day
    March - 65.87 per day
    April - 40.46 per day
    May - 12.8 per day
    June - 12.5 per day
    July - 11.13 per day

First quarter, I was aiming to get below 75
Second quarter, I was aiming to get below 35
Third quarter, I am aiming to get below 10

(We have no gas, everything is electric here and we are a household of 3 with 2 working fulltime from home.)

That's it, July is all over!
    Welcome to August!

Barefootlinzi, i apologise in advance if im wrong? as dont know if its company specific or not but i have just been offered a new job and the petrol allowance is only 28p a mile BUT the accountant sends out a form at the end of the financial year and the inland revenue refund the additional 15p per mile of business mileage to you as their recommendation is 43p per mile.

Ooops this was meant to be a pm! ah well was in answer to your post in page 2!! Mx

    Good morning frugal friends.
I was woken up at 5am by torrential rain. This is good on 2 fronts.

    1. I do not have to water containers.
    2. I actually slept for a full 6 hrs which is the first decent night's sleep I have had since DH died on June 26th.

Unfortunately, the good things are slightly cancelled out by the fact I forgot to bring a king size duvet in off the line where it was airing off in the sun yesterday
It's now just about touching the grass.
Oh well, it'll be nice and fresh when it dries out :D

Apart from diesel, I have spent very little over the last month so I have a purse full which is a novelty for the start of the month.

I am going to try and get back on track with the budget again as I know what my income will be. Unfortunately, I am still off sick as my brain still appears to be inside a jar of cotton wool which makes decisions a little difficult.

So, Aug 1 is "start again day" :T

How much does that mean I have got? I used to be good at mental arithmetic but that talent has got up and gone

Typing is quite difficult when you have an overly friendly moggie lying on your arm telling you how much he loves you :D

    Good morning frunchkins:D

Janey we had the torrential rain here last night too, no watering needed on veggie patch this morning then:D I think that there are 152 days left of the challenge(I usualy check Nyks sig) so just divide your remaining cash by that to get your daily spend:D

House smells lovely this morning as slowcooker has been simmering away overnight, cooking for my oldies at tea time but don't want to go swimming after a big meal so will have my slowcooker stew instead when I get back from gym tonight:p

Nyk - electricity usage is looking good:T Can't even keep track of mine as all communal storage heaters (about 30) and corridor lights are on my meter:eek:

Morning all! (I know I'm on here but it's just quickly as I woke up with enough energy)

It's my Day 1 too Janey so good luck to both of us! My diary says it's Day 214, with 152 days left for you (I've got 151 as started a day early).
Amazing how low you've got your electricity, well done Nyk!

Ooh, OH has been clearing out someone's garage (20+ years of carp! He's gettting paid £100 a day to do it ), he can have anything he wants and he's just handed me 3 fountain pens :jI've wanted one for ages so very happy! He's also got allsorts of other things which he keeps mentioning, some of which he's going to sell so great stuff all round!:D

Right, going going gone! See you later, have a fab day everyone xx

    ps I love Interest Day!
pps I've decided to set up a fund for myself with extra money/bonuses I manage to save - not sure what it'll be for yet but felt it was important to have a 'Me' Fund :D (I've just put £102.31 in it :T)

Mine too! Wonder if it's something to do with their latest update, all singing and dancing new version, which has reverted to all my old bookmarks (e.g. May grocery challenge, live on 4k part 2  ) and didn't have a lot of the current ones. Yesterday I had to spend ages sorting it all out.

Good morning peeps, we had the torrential rain from around midnight last night then another brief shower earlier this morning. Now, however, it's dapple-blue skies and watery sunshine, so I'm going to risk hanging out the washing. Janey, I hope the sunshine is spreading as far as you to help with that duvet!

Bails, I agree, 'interest day' is a good one! :D Your 'me' account sounds like my interest beater account. I have it purely for tax free bonuses like free bingo winnings and proceeds from selling off things I no longer need. I'd increase it slightly if I took the time to list on eBid, but hey, ho... it's the thought that counts, or so they say. :rotfl:

Sophiesmum, you could always meter watch and then divide by the number of households within the complex? That wouold make interesting stats! :D

:j 1st August, I can go shopping! Except I didn't get around to doing the storecupboard inventory yesterday afternoon - ain't that a surprise? :o Going to rope HS into helping then just do a quick trip to 'Autumn Meadows', as I'll be doing a Mr A shop next week en route home from visiting parents. I'll have my £10 voucher to top up the stockpile, too. :D

OK, off to the postie now, catch up soon, everyone have a good day. :)

    hello everyone!
I'm just working out the figures, lol
    Starting £4000, which is £10.92 a day.
    Day 214 = 214 x 10.92 = £2336.88
My total for the end of July is 2274.19 which then means that I'm £62.69 UNDER BUDGET! :j :j I've made it back. After two months of being waaay over target, I am now back in the race ;)
So, I have £1725.81 left for the year. which works out at £11.35 per day :)
    sf xx
