Good morning frunchkins:D
Dragged out of bed at 6:30 this morning by one of oldies setting off the fire alarm, so already had to deal with two fire enines and about 10 lovely firemen whilst wearing my PJ's:o
Funnily enough i bumped into one of our regular firemen a few days ago at the gym, whilst swimming and he joked that he had never yet seen me with clothes on:eek: with my figure that is not a good thing:rotfl: :rotfl:
Wasn't around much yesterday as my dad is poorly and having a few bad days at the moment which the family are helping mum deal with. Another example of not knowing what is around the corner. My dad has already beaten bowel cancer, liver cancer, and had a tumour removed from his lungs, but has now been told there is no hope after the cancer has entered his lymph nodes and spread around his body and tumours in his bones:mad:. So unfair when he is due to retire this year and start enjoying the life he and mum have been saving hard for through their working lives.Another reason to get the 5 a day as F&V have been shown to help prevent cancers. Nyk -tomatoes, including the dreaded tinned tomatoes are very good for antioxidants and as you say are even more beneficial when they have been cooked, even tomato puree counts;) Think I only had 3 portions yeaterday of F&V it was a bit of a disorganised grab it and eat day, will do better today.
It is my brother's birthday today so will have to sort out a card and pressie designated for him from my pressie stash, and take it around later.
Need to go and jump in the shower now ready for work, catch you all later:D0 -
Sophiesmum so sorry to hear about your Dad. I too had an early start due to DH throwing what I can only deem as a tantrum before he left for work this morning:mad: He hates his job so much that sometimes it unfortunatley spills out. I feel guilty that I can't do more so he could find another job, but I already work 2 days a week while also studying for my degree and looking after the children. Hope everyone has a good day.Credit Card Debt

Hi sophiesmum. You are so right about living life for today. So sorry to hear about your Dad.
At least my DH and I didn't wait until retirement to fulfil a lot of our dreams. We might have ended up in debt because of life circumstances but we made the most of the time we had.
It is so good to have a supportive family at difficult times like this. I wish you all well.0 -
Morning everyone, really sorry to hear people having hard times, hugs to LoobyLoo, DraigGoch, Sophiesmum and TTDB :grouphug: As I see it, the money thing is a balance (like everything else) - trying to keep on top of it to make life easier so you can enjoy each day that you have with the people you love. I wish you all love and a happier day xxxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

BTW, where is MrDT these days?
Aww, I can feel the love
I've been absent for a while, apologies ladiesNo doubt I've missed a LOT of goings on in this thread, hopefully I'll have time on Sunday to catch up!
Been quite hectic really - have had a really busy couple of weeks at work (and that's set to continue for a long while yet!), have been househunting (and found a place I like and may well be offering on!), and have met a rather wonderful young lady (so am interacting in real life more than online these days haha!)
I fear I have let the 4k challenge slide a little the past few weeks. I'm still recording my spends, I just haven't updated my total recently. I'm doing a nine month challenge (1st April to 31st December @ £3000) and pretty sure I've spent about half my budget already, if I carry on like this then I'll be all spent up in Novemeber, that's before even taking Christmas into account
I'll be back with proper updated totals soon I promise
Hope everyone's well!0 -

nyk I would love to do the potatoes - we only have a patio (small) but will give it a go in a plastic box. Can it be any potato variety - ie, baking, new, sweet potato?MFW #185

Ah, nice to see you MrDT, and with a bird in tow
Having a real life, that's not allowed is it? *immediately heads out the door to party with 3D people*
Great one Shaz! :T
Eagerlearner, I'm not sure about sweet potatoes but to be honest, they seem to sit around so long without sprouting that I'd def do normal potatoes anywayWhatever you have is fine, whatever it is. If you don't have any, try and buy some whoopsied ones
Use as deep a pot as you can find, that way you'll get more potatoes. Good luck!
Right, I really am off into the real world with my virtual/3D buddy Marru so best get on! Have a great day all xThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hi bails thanks for that - so, excuse the newbie ignorance, how does one potato that sprouts some leaves under the earth, erm, produce lots more - I mean, am I right in thinking the potato itself is a root, and it will create more 'roots'? And in this amazing test of my newbie and hopeful green fingers, how many luverly homegrown potatoes might I expect for my 1 x whoopsied potato, as an example? xMFW #185

Good morning and
to all who need it.
Congratulations on finding yourself a nice young lady, Mr DT  JumbleBee and I shall try our best to console ourselves with some free bingo, but how on earth are we going to break the news to Mumzy when she gets back online?
Living life to the full - well, I know that [STRIKE]isn't always[/STRIKE] doesn't always seem possible because life, itself, is practically impossible without money nowadays. Even self-sufficiency seems 'illegal' in this country, as I can't see the local councils accepting tax payments in potatoes. However, once you strip away all the unneccesary materialistic stuff that society and the media throw at us, it's much easier to live within our personal budgets, to appreciate things, to see the wood as well as the trees.
If you had the choice, what would your IDEAL scenario be?
I ask this question to everyone who cares to answer, as I think the ability to answer it with 100% honesty, even to yourself, is the key to balancing your life. It's a bit like asking what your wishes would be if I could grant them, but be careful what you wish for...I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
