:grouphug: for Marru
DdG I suppose the wildlife fills a void in the freezer so is quite a good money saving move
I am still a little shocked that I have parted with hard cash for the Remoska
I am going to keep a real check on myself to make sure I utilise it to the utmost.
I am thinking ahead as well because if I do have to move from this house, I will have a means of cooking without worrying about buying a cooker for a while.
Not that I am worried about having to move but this first winter on my own will be the testing time as it takes a lot of day to day effort to keep things running smoothly.
I have just had the bill for my car service and there was a note on to say the front tyres were getting low on tread
I phoned the garage and they said about 1,000 miles remaining
So, back it goes on Monday.
Bummer :mad:0 -
Joined Freecycle on Tuesday and I am doing my first exchange today.
I am getting a blue dog bed for my new pup ( part of the reason we our skint this month) and getting rid of 4 single duvet covers to another person for when her granddaughters come to stay with her!
I think this is a great system and dont know why I havent discovered it earlier.
Also husband got paid today, I must resist the temptation to go to the bank, bein skint for the last 10 days I feel as if I have won the lottery! Must remember that it has to last til the end of the month:DLive on a little over £4k challenge

Morning all, yet another damp and grey day here, more washing done that isn't going to get hung out! However, I've now stuck a 'wanted' on Freecycle for a freestanding clothes airer of the old fashioned variety. We do have an old 'pully' (sp?) in the hallway but it's so cold & damp in there that the clothes just aren't drying quickly enough to avoid getting that awful damp smell. Last winter, I resorted to sitting a heater underneath it, which completely defeated the purpose.
MUST get to postie today but once again, it'll need to wait until I've collected DGD from nursery and poor child will need to 'help gran do her work'. Getting in a right old tizz about this scenario, as it's been going on for as long as I can remember! How do working mums manage with young kids if there's no childminding facilities available locally? And there's no form of income compensation for those of us who need to stay home to look after grandchildren, yet we still need to earn a living. It's ludicrous!
Rant over - sorryI reserve the right not to spend.

Totally agree with you Nyk. We are lucky in that MIL will have frugalmite 2 (maybe 3 ) days a week and we will have to pay for nursery the other 2 days as I don\'t think its fair to ask her to have he/she everyday. She is due to retire next year so she should be at home full time but if not FIL and Aunt are at home as they are both registered disabled so they have offered if she still wants to work a few hours/days (she is a carer) I do not know how we would manage if we had to pay for nursery full time as we would not have enough to cover our bills lt alone anything else. I bet your daughter (?) is very grateful to you, you are obviously a very good gran! xxxDS 1 born 12/02/2009DS 2 born 30/01/2012Married 07/07/07xx Love my boys xx0 -
Mrs Hayes - you don't have McAffee by any chance - because the same thing happened to me earlier in the year - drove me mad. In the end it became apparent that it had gone wonky after an automatic update by McAffee. Fortunately lodger is computer whizz kid and sorced the problem to the down load. I left Macaffee and and now have free virus protection though a company he recommeneded.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

nyk - you may find a dehumidifier works well and is cheaper than a heater to run?
We got ours from Argos last year. Do a search on this site for useful info.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
MrsHayes, I'm old fashioned and politically incorrect, apparently - bring back the days when men were men and women were in charge of the households, I say. :rotfl: OUCH! Just got shot down in flames by the entire feminist movement! Run, I tell you, ruuuuuuuuuun.... as fast as you can, just keep running! Women and children first! :rotfl: (Well, that's what they said when we sailed on the Balmoral - women and children get taken off the sinking ship first!)
Whitewing - thanks for suggestion - I'll add another 'wanted' to Freecycle too
Ooh! Postman has just delivered my eBid purchase - panels for making cushions! I bought 4 and nice seller has sent me a free one. :T Must remember to update spending diary - one pair for my new farmhouse kitchen when I get it (chickens) one pair for a Chrissie pressie and DGD can have the free one with the dolphins/whales as it matches the fleecy blanket she uses when napping hereI reserve the right not to spend.
