Sorry to hear your sad news, Marru. You really did do everything you could for Bert over the past few weeks, hope you and DD aren't too sad :( Sending hugs from all here.

Welcome back BMO3, just count up your 'score' and when the year end comes, decide on a shiney new target for 2009 with the added benefit of past experience to guide you through the 'high-spend' points :) I'm constantly re-assessing my budget. Makes it all the more fun and much more of a challenge, and it's funny seeing the faces of family when I tell them the increase in food & utilities is coming out of the Christmas shopping budget. :D :rotfl:
I reserve the right not to spend.

  • :rotfl:Oh, the joys of knowing I'm not the only one with frozen wildlife! :rotfl:

Well, technically speaking, it's not mine any more, but I did stop the traffic on a very busy road to pick up a recently deceased young dog fox and donated it to someone who's very keen on stuffed animals .... so's his father. In fact, he's SO keen, he's "borrowed" my stuffed buzzard to display with his bargain find stuffed red squirrel and another stuffed bird :rotfl::rolleyes:

It's lovely to hear of the start of FruCon [Frugal Convention], wouldn't it be great to see how many we can get around the country? So, who's up for a South Wales FruCon?

I'm proud to say that I've [nearly] managed my August Grocery Challenge, and am entering in the September one. Wish me luck:rolleyes: I'm going to need it as I'm off on holiday at the end of September. It'll be our honeymoon - one year on, accompanied by teenagers  :D:confused: Should be interesting....

Hoping to see the publication of Janey's book very soon.

Thank you all. Yes I have finally stopped crying. It took me ten games of Supergems to get distracted for long enough.

I can't help but think that I should have separated him from his bullying flat mate earlier and got him a gentle friend and perhaps he had recovered. His flatmate is going to get castrated tomorrow so that I can put him together with the girls every now and again and pending how he gets on will then start seeking him a new flat mate. I would love to have a black Abyssinian but of course it depends what the rescue has available.

It just seems so unfair to lose the favourite one. Bert was the most social, curious, friendly and cuddly piggy. He was very special. I would be upset if I lost any of them but it is heartbraking to lose someone so special.

DD is not really affected by it. I have explained her about dead flies why they don't fly anymore is because the little spirit inside has moved away and is not there to make the fly to move anymore and she has accepted this explanation. She was more concerned of how much strawberries (on offer) and raspberries (whoopsied) she could scoff off. She seems to think that she can eat her share and then share my share. But she has been kissing and cuddling me and telling me that she loves me. She is now sleeping on the sofa, she brought her duvet and pillow and I didn't have the energy to take her into her room. Need to remember to move the sofa table so that she can't fall off.

Even my dog knew that something isn't right (or I forgot to feed her) but even she has now settled to sleep.

Anyway, off now to watch news and news night and then go to bed. Supper was potatoes cooked in grill and left over of really tasteless quiche (whoopsied) hidden into an omelette.

    Night night,

    Marru

  • Sorry bout Bert Marru:( .

My frugal act today was to sign up at www.petrolprices.com which tells you who is selling the cheapest petrol near you.
Decided too nervous to post pigs trotters on freecycle, specially somewhere like Brighton:o . Any suggestions how I can get rid of them without wasting them?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

  • Sympathies, Marru. I know that I missed my cat and cried for hours and hours when he went. Goodness knows what I'll be like if/when my dog goes .... What a brilliant explanation for your DD. Well done.

I really must get to bed! Night all.
