  • Well that weird yellow ufo has disappeared again today. Wet status quo returned.
[BB When I first met bails, I recall her family were a bit concerned I might turn out to be a old man in a mac
What makes you think I can afford a mac :D.]
    :rotfl:

Janey & nyk, your macless meet sounds great, though unfortunately set up a craving in me for pink wafer biscuits:o . Fortunately as I have just declared on my august GC I absolutely cannot buy any:D .
Didn't know there were differnt dsorts of marsh mallow Nyk - hope the disaster is over looked by demanding 4yr old consumers.
Sophiesmum - they are lovely photos of your brother and it is lovely to beable to have that image of him as you write about him. Brings home the sadness of it all too. The photo album is a great idea.
Bails, hope you didn't spend the night mentally doing all you tasks due for today so you're too tired to actually do them today - from one who does that too often:o .
    Today I would like to:
    1. make a loaf of bread,
    2. chop, roast & freeze 28 red peppers,
    3. & cook 2 birthday cakes.
But I am visiting my oldest friends first who are due to emigrate to Crete very soon, so expect plans will get waylaid.
Mmmm, it is now pouring cats & dogs and I wanted to walk there in my nice orange suede shoes...
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

    Good afternoon to all :)

It's sunny here at the moment but a very inconsiderate neighbour has decided to have a bonfire, which is pouring smoke across the garden, so no chance of hanging out washing!

Janey, I left the confessions of your purchasing the top brand name milk chocolate digestives with you after wondering about them myself whilst buying the pink wafers! :rotfl: And yes, HS/OH2B did get that slightly glazed look every now and again, I couldn't decide if it was shock, panic or just plain shut-down at the prospect of being caught in twice as much frugal talk as usual. Not sure if he's recovered yet. :D

Sophiesmum, the Freecycle acquisition can now be divulged as it is safely tucked away in friend's garage - it's a new bathroom suite plus all the matching accessories for use in the future frugal-home! :jAs we have definitely decided to go after a plot or fixy-up of some description, it WILL be needed, hopefully sooner, rather than later. Most folks think I'm mad but I didn't want to miss such a superb opportunity as it means I can now deduct an amount from the 'bathroom fixtures & fittings' section of my spreadsheet and allocate it elsewhere. :D

Heading off to help set up for DGD's birthday party soon. I'm not going to take the marshmallow top hats, as they look like they've been made by the 4 year-olds rather than for them! So, I've popped them into a cake tin and we'll have them tomorrow at the tea party. Hopefully, it'll be a nice day and we can turn it into a picnic in the garden. :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Good on yer, Nyk! I've done likewise, got a secondhand suite from a neighbour, only I couldn't get a bath the right size for my teeny bathroom so that had to be bought.

A Fabulous Frugalling Moment today, while entering my meter readings online! A window popped up to warn me that the reading for gas is 'a lot less than expected' - ie NO gas used at all since last time. Yup, that would be right. Can't wait for the meter reader to come and check. :D:D:D

Hello! I'm back on the site, and I was wondering if I could rejoin :o Since being here last I've graduated, moved into a house with my bf and started working full time. I could really use extra motivation at the moment and last time this challenge helped me focus on what I was spending and why. If I've done the math right, then starting tomorrow would leave me with £1410. So pretty please may I rejoin? :D
  • I paid my keep* for next month today :rotfl: it's not due till the 12th of September. I've done that as my parents are on holiday when it's due so I wanted to make sure they had it and I could easily forget otherwise. Was only £80 as again I am looking after the dog and am buying most of my own food aswell. Same for my fiancé lol. Means we can save more money this comin month than we usually do though. Shud be able to spend only £10 each per week while my parents are away , maybe less :j . So takin that into consideration should be £30 each saved for September more than we usually do. I bet he buys a new game with it though  .

I'm now hoping to come in under 2.5k for the whole year now which should happen :T . Yay! But I'll keep the 3k as the challenge for the moment just incase  .

*keep is included in mine as it covers gas, eleki, food etc that is included in this challenge incase you were wondering.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
