Hi,
My last update was 4th of August. That is 1,793/3,345 wich is 54% of the budget used in 51% of the time, so slightly over budget.

Hi Wendywitch, just knowing you are still here is great. Hope you get the problems sorted out soon and don't worry if you don't keep within budget this year, there's always next year. The second half of 2008 can be your practice run and whatever you spend, you'll can double it and then try to beat that figure for next time
Marru - thanks for that, I'm just adding the names now so that it doesn't complicate things with those starting partway through the year. You're still doing really well and I hope the challenge has helped you in some little wayI reserve the right not to spend.

Hi Nyk, as a complete newbie I'm definitely still here! Don't have much money facts in my sig yet; Am slow to get to grips with it all so tackling one thing at a time - first stop the grocery challenge, & I've also passed on utility bill rises to lodgers- - a big step for me:j . Started in July going for the £2,000 for the rest of the year. No way am I getting anywhere near that. But this is a training run for 2009 and I'm going to be getting better all the timeI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

Hey! If YOU can live on that amount alone and WE can show you that it can be done with 2+ in the house then think how well off you'll be if you ever hitch up with a houseshare or partner
You'll be LOADED! :j
This is true, an excellent point!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hi 1274, well done on going the SE route!
First things first, find out who owes you money from anywhere and make sure you get it. Try the Inland Revenue, as you'll possibly have overpaid your income tax during employment. They can only say no.Depending on your circumstances, age, if you have family etc, you may also qualify for tax credits. Save to faves - www.hmrc.gov.uk - as it's one of the most frequented sites I use with regards to business research. You could also try www.entitledto.co.uk but if you have been frugal and saved, then they expect you to compensate any drop in earnings with personal savings, so not best helpful if you have cash stashed away for a rainy day.
Thanks for sticking with us in our mad frugal world, good luck with the self-employment and, hopefully, by knowing how much it costs you to live, you can easily set your personal income goals to suit your frugal lifestyle until such times you are happy to take the next step. I work to a very strict budget sheet that includes everything needed throughout an entire year. It's a case of, this is what I MUST earn to survive, no matter what. Anything over that is a bonus. Well done in taking the plunge! :TI reserve the right not to spend.
