I've been to the supermarket today and spent £7 on washing powder and cleaning stuff and £21 on food. More on food than usual as have my friend's daughter round after school today and so got a few treats, although it cost me much less to get them from the supermarket than to take everyone to the local shop and choose themselves! Also my eldest at a birthday party on sunday so managed to pick up a pressie for £4.
Total spend today £32Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Great Thread, we always get caught going to marks and spencers, they open till 5pm where the other supermarkets close at 4pm on a sunday.
Then the worst sin is to not eat the food we have brought and it goes out of date!0 -
You are doing well notenoughcash:T
I had to buy double presents last week - nightmare!, my daughter went to a bd party for twins!! I managed to spend only a tenner though - got 3 for 2 on cards and wrap at booksale (75p each) and then got them a journal set (diary, pen and notepad)from there too and a nail art set and lip gloss set each from the pound shop :T they looked really good presents too so I was dead chuffed! Had to get another pressie this month too for my friend's little boy, got him a book token and some sweets. It just eats away at your money doesn't it?0 -
It's all too easy to do that. I've opened a second bank account, just a basic one, no chq book or anything, just a debit card, and I transfer my 'spending money' into there. A limited amount evey week and trying so very hard to stick to it and when it's gone it's gone. That means my main account always has more than enough to cover the bills and the amount left in there is building up month by month too. I'm sure I'll break at some point and go on a crazy spend but at least it will be my saved money and not a credit card I have to then somehow repay!Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Never take a trolley at the supermarkey unless you KNOW there are bulky things you need to buy. In that case take a wee trolley.
If you only need milk don't even take a basket - can't carry it, so you won't buy it.0 -
My friends all laugh at me cos everything I buy I'll say 'I can either buy those jeans or feed my kids for two weeks' or 'have you seen the price of that? I don't spend that in a year on food'Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Wow scrooge, I'll have to give that a try. My favourite designer is generally primarni as my designer-clad friend likes to call it!
I've had a bit of a blip today, spent money I didn't really have to. Been to cemetary and spent £3 on flowers and I also bought myself a drink which was £1.10. Although if I hadn't have walked I wouldn't have needed the drink but would have spent £2.60 on bus fare's so almost evens itself out really.
I'm making shepherd's pie for tea tonight using half a pack of reduced minced beef (50p) and all veg from the garden so a good, healthy, hearty, very low cost meal.Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80
