Hi thanks for all the replies - dont O2/Be have a "fair use" policy? We could run into problems if we download 50 GB.

They've never enacted the fair use policy against anyone in their history to my knowledge. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm pretty certain there are people using more than 50GB a month without any problem. As long as you keep it legal and don't take the Michael (100's of GB's of 24/7 downloading) I think you'll be fine.

Well its not a guaranteed fast speed (dependent on your distance from the exchange) plus if the OP doesn't have a land line then they'll need to get that installed (looking at £110 at the minimum) and then the contractual line rental with whatever company.

I had taken the assumption that as they currently had a Plusnet deal they had a landline and the fact that they were downloading reasonably heavily I also assumed that their distance to the xchange wasn't too much of a throttle. It wasn't a criticism of your suggestion just an alternative based on their current setup

You could try ADSL24 - another Entanet reseller. They have a generous 30Gb peak / 300Gb off peak for £19.99 a month (peak = Mom-Fri 8am-10pm all other times including weekends are off peak)

They have a 60Gb peak / 330Gb off peak product for £29.99, which might suit you better in a shared property.

After 6-7 years with Freedom2Surf I moved to ADSL24 in April and they haven't disappointed.

    Hi
I've been with BE for about 9mths, and I've never heard of them telling "anyone off" for downloading excessively.
I download about 100-150gbs per mth, with no problems whatsover.

If you can get them then I recommend them and I don't know any other isp that compares to them, in price/unlimited or speed.

£14mth (value package) gets you unlimited downloads and upto 8mbs down and 1.3mbps upload
£18mth (unlimited package) gets you unlimited downloads and upto 24mbs down and 1.3mbps upload.
with no throttling/shaping or anything else that slows your connection down. plus free telephone support.

Well worth the money and they really are the best.
