"Anti-Sniping Policy" and other unnecessary seller terms.

ANTI-SNIPING POLICY: I reserve the right to refuse sale to ANYONE. I do not condone sniping. If you want to bid on my items bid early and bid fairly. Bids entered within the last 10 seconds or so of the end of the auction WILL NOT BE HONORED. I will sell to the last timely bidder at whatever the price was before the snipe. Who decides what's sniping and what is not? Well... I do. I am perfectly within my rights to refuse sale to whomever I choose and I will exert that right. If you are a buyer who likes to indulge in this practice please--take your business elsewhere. I've had too much stuff sniped out from under me in the past. It is not worth the small bit of extra coin that I will make to let this practice continue.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that many of the highest bids I receive come in the last minute of a listing. I really do not understand what this seller has against snipers, what happens if they get two high snipes in the last seconds? Will they genuinely sell to the original opening bidder?

Likewise, there are still thousands of listings with "I am not responsible for items lost in the post", and those that are claiming not to accept paypal.

  • On Tazbar they extend a listing by ten seconds if the item receives a bid in the last ten seconds to stop snipng. I may not have gotten the amount of time correct, but you get the idea.

under the new rules I doubt that seller is going to lady much longer. Refusing to sell to the highest bidder is going to get him into trouble with Ebay, not to mention all the negs that will follow.

I personally LOVE Sniping whether Buying or Selling. Often I find my Bargains are at odd times of the day and a set snipe allows me to walk away from the Computer and sleep/eat/whatever. stops me getting 'Bid Fever' too :D If I lose, Heyho!

When an Auction of mine suddenly takes off with snipes it can be very pleasing!

It looks like this guy has been beaten by snipers and taken the hump. Could a sniper pay quickly and issue non performing seller if refunded and item passed to lower bid? :rotfl:

    Who is the seller?

I quite often snipe manually rather than using esnipe!

The guy is a tw@. All the action happens at the end of an auction. Last minute sniping pushes the price up, what's this guy's problem?

I have seen price rises of over £100 in the last few seconds. This seller simply cannot refuse to sell to whomever he wishes, and will find himself being reported for non-performance constantly. He has already received one negative in the last month because of this silly "policy". I'm guessing this is a new thing, otherwise he'd be long-gone by now.

I fear the seller is TSFE and unlikely to be around much longer to trouble any of us.

I always place my bids in the last few seconds and I don't use a snipe tool, but I guess the seller would think I was.

I don't think it's sniping tools the seller has a problem with, merely the act of sniping itself.

If the seller doesn't agree with the highest bidder winning an auction, he should just list using the BIN and/or BIN/BO formats.
