Hi
my wife and daughter went on a day trip on a coach this weekend.
The coach was broken into and everyones purchases ( fags) was stolen. several Thousands of pounds worth
The coach driver had not parked in the main car park and was away from the main coach park.
The driver)s) would not report to police where the crime happened and threatened to leave all passengers at the hypermarket.
The passengers were upset and angry and insisted that they report the matter, they did so at the ferry port and were told to retrun to the original location to reprt to the local police - They refused to do so and agian threatend to leave passengers at the dockside unless they boarded the coach.
As a consequence there is no crime reference or report from the french authorities.
My assertion is that the company and employees failed in their duty of care to its customers.
The Coach operator seems to support the actions of his drivers and stated that they were acting on his advice.
Throw into this some extremely unhelpful and rude behaviour by the drivers.
What do I do now? I will refer to the Bus Appeals Body
Do I have a case against them for negligence and failure of a duty of care?

A load of tobacco addicts went over to France on a baccie run to try save some money and to buy some to sell on to mates..;)
Coach was broken into and coach company are washing their hands of it. Cig dealers got ratty with driver who can hardly be blamed for the break in and the driver quite rightly threatened to leave them there.
OP is going to refer to the Bus Appeals body, although I can't see why the hell the OP seems to think that applies to a tour coach, instead of making a claim on the coach companies insurance as the lack of oxygen from smoking has addled their brain.0 -

so your lorry gets broken into, your load gets stolen,do you just continue as if nothing has happened?
or do you report it to the local police authority (who will do nothing in the way of recovering your goods but you will have a claim number for your insurance company)...work permit granted!0 -
Just be pleased that your family will have fewer filthy cancer sticks to poison themselves with.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Sounds to me suspiciously like the coach driver does this and has done it more than once. Probably earns more than he does being a coach driver from it.0

You are very sad. The items stolen are irrelevant. a crime occurred and because the coach driver (in collusion with the company ownermanger) was acting unlawfully in how the trip was being opertaed just walks away from their duty and responsibility to their customers.
So, if I'm out driving and knock down a cigarette smoker that's fine I suppose on the basis that I have just reduced the self inflicted potentail drain on NHS resources and stopped the possible future suffering of a cancer stick junkie?
Grow up and get a life you pious idiot.0 -
To the OP - why have you not reported the crime yourself?
The coach was broken into - it's entirely at the discretion of the operator if they want to report that crime. Whereas your property was stolen - therefore its your responsibility surely?0 -

I know some people do post things which are less than helpful but that post is right up there.
What a remarkably stupid and useless post0
