Dog Shampoo

I've heard of the tomato puree thing but never tried it . Seems fiddly and expensive when shampoo works well. Also would it not stain white dogs fur ?
I'm going to try baby shampoo when we've used up the current bottle of dog shampoo
Thanks everyone

Well pooch will get a bath today - weather here is freezing cold and raining and he is only little so finds it hard to keep warmth in. I think it must be the cold weather (see previous my dogs poorly posts) as he seems to be losing weight again lately since we have had torrential rain so am goign to bed wash, and get him washed too.
Thinking about it my dog seems a right tart. He likes his bath, loves the haridryer afterwards, loves his winter jumpers (again this is cos he gets very ill and not a fashion pampered pooch thing) and sits perfectly still when i try to put them on him, is a total mummys boy, and loves nothing but a good cuddle with mummy in the evening and would snuggle on my bed if given half the chance and was allowed in the bedroom.Time to find me again0 -
Well my GSD is usually bathed by my other half and he has no concept over the cost of some of my special shampoos. The other week he shampooed her with Aussie and then the Aussie 3 minute miricle conditioner. I couldnt believe it but she did smell great and look so soft and shiney. She didnt seem to mind either. She loves the hair dryer apart from when you accidently blow her in the face. My JRT uses Dove. Great for keeping her smelling nice and feeling soft. They are just tarts and love the pampering i think. Dont get any scratching or anything from usuing them so must be ok to some extent although i dont use the good stuff every bath time. Cant afford to. :rotfl:0

My 3 staffordshire bull terriers got bathed in Tresemme once when I had run out of shampoo (and the first one was already wet in the bath when I realised). They smelt delicious and didn't suffer any ill effects. Apart from that I have always used shampoo specifically for dogs. I have some baby shampoo in the cupboard so I think I will give that a go this weekend.
Someone mentioned earlier on in the thread that any shampoo apart from dog shampoo would strip the oils in their coats - I would say that baby shampoo is far too mild to have this effect otherwise you wouldn't be using it on your baby's head!!
I can't wait to give it a try because I love the smell of baby shampoo.:T:heart2: Katie & Benjy - I'll meet you at Rainbow Bridge......:heart2:0
