A bit of good news. I've reached my target. Based on 16p a unit my electric bill this last quarter has averaged out at 45.00 for my All Electric conversion! I'm so chuffed, between 2nd April and 5th july I used 1210 units of electric

I am abit blinkered when washing up in cold water comes into it as, I think i mentioned earlier, someone who uses a bowel of water all day. I guess as long as enough detergent is used and the plates and house is squeaky clean then go for it. The person I know who has gone to the extreme is very very lazy when it comes to cleaning. Piles of clothes every where, nothing put away, nothing thrown out, not even packaging, it is just like one of those hoarders documentaries you see on the tele. Don't mention the kitchen as everything is on the worktop or unwashed floor. Sadly the landloard I know cant do anything under the tennents rights. The other day he turned on his electric hob and clouds of burning oil debris came from the grill. I tried to fill the sink with hot water to clean the cooker and was told to stop wasting electric. Thats why I am blinkered with going too far with saving energy.0 -
Tell me about it. I go up there as little as I can. everyone tells him hes a dirty pig but he ignores it. The laugh of it is he portrays himself like lord (fonalroy?) to all who hasn't seen the state he lives in.0

the secret is to wash up regularly, all the time, and make a habit of it. I live alone and know how easy it s to fall into bad habits. the depression of loneliness has a lot to do with it. w should look outside of ourselves more, stop looking inwards though it can be beneficial to do so. after all the soul searching, get back to reality and do some washing up. I say this thinking of your friend. it may be he is totally locked up inside himself, in the end only he can choose how to live his life. I must say, after my energy conversion I am washing up more, cleaning more. this may be because one appreciates the value of things, rather than simply turning on a tap using all the energy one can . maybe we should all get back to simpler living.0

I tend to put things in the dish washer and switch it on once or twice a week. I tend to keep myself busy cleaning and when Im not doing that Im generally at friends.
I did have a "what if" a few months back. In 20 years time or sooner would we be living the life of the 1920s purely due to oil and gas prices being inherently high!? If that was the case we would be one hell of a lot fitter as "on demand" wont exist to the every day joe and we would be growing all our own vegetables!0 -
