There is a lovely side of Redditch, the older side! Excellent schools and open countryside for miles. Costs to live here though ;)

It's the people who genuinely believe that their part of town is so wonderfully expensive that can't sell their houses. If people want to ask that much for their houses, they will find their potential buyer will go and get themselves a Stratford postcode

You're entitled to your opinion Nixinix...I take it you live in a bad area of Redditch then. Warwickshire education authority gets good funding but even so I wouldn't choose to live in Studley, it's long since lost its 'village' status. There is a lovely side of Redditch, the older side! Excellent schools and open countryside for miles. Costs to live here though ;)

I have lived in both sides of Redditch and I still choose to leave rather than live either side of the divide, though essentially I don't really have a problem with Redditch as it is my home town and I have alot of fond memories here and I will still be here on a regular basis as all my family and friends are here. (I also think in the last couple of years the Kingfisher Centre has improved vastly - I used to go out of Redditch every weekend to shop now I will happily go in to town.

Simply I really do believe the school system in Studley far exceeds all the schools in Redditch...in a past career I used to visit all the schools in Redditch, Studley, Bromsgrove and Droitwich on a weekly basis.

I am not moving out of Redditch to live in a 'village', I am moving to a place I like and has the facilities I want within walking distance for my children whilst still being close to Redditch!

Crikey, that was quick! Are you renting or buying?

Buying. Found a repo and managed to 'sell' ours in one day - put it on at a sensible price and found a ftb! Haven't quite managed the 28 days (that was 2nd Sep) but hopefully due to exchange and complete on Monday!!!!

I must be very lucky then?! Where I live is beautiful, quiet, safe and enjoys open views and it's in Redditch! Yes our house was very expensive (I don't just THINK our house is 'WONDERFULLY EXPENSIVE') because our estate is very sought after. We worked very hard to afford it and it's our last house.
I speak as a parent and a teacher when I say I am very happy with my children's schooling. Worcestershire is underfunded but I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most fantastic and enthusiastic teachers all in Redditch schools.:j
I appreciate Redditch has its downsides but so do most towns. I prefer to look at the positives like its countryside, parks, improving facilities and most of all that my friends and family are here.:D
I wish you well in your move to your 'Stratford postcode' but would remind you that negative views of the town won't be appreciated by friends and family still living here. It isn't very nice to run down someone's home town and having lived here once doesn't give you the divine right to do so.;)

This is not a luxury afforded to me Yes our house was very expensive (I don't just THINK our house is 'WONDERFULLY EXPENSIVE' that is not a phrase I have used..think you must have confused my posts with Doozergirls) because our estate is very sought after. We worked very hard to afford it and it's our last house.

I prefer to look at the positives like its countryside, parks, improving facilities and most of all that my friends and family are here.:D I also appreciate Redditch - it ismy home town and I have been happy here for 34 years but it is not right for my family - I don't see why you have a right to judge me for that?
I wish you well in your move to your 'Stratford postcode' Studley has the same postal code as Redditch 'B' for Birmingham but would remind you that negative views I don't have any just that the schools are not right for my familys needs of the town won't be appreciated by friends and family still living here. It isn't very nice to run down someone's home town and having lived here once ONCE??????? I HAVE LIVED HERE FOR 34 YEARS and it is also my home town doesn't give you the divine right No divine right but I am entitled to opinions without being criticised to do so.;)

 I am not moving to offend anyone I am doing it for me because it is right for my family.

I was born here and schooled here and it has not done me any harm and some of my teachers were fantastic, but I do not want my children to go to 'particular' schools and I could not afford to move to a postcode which does not include at least one of these schools in Redditch. Just because you have a higher household income than me does not make you better than me.

Redditch is and always will be my home town, as I have lived here for nearly 34 years I feel I am entitled to my opinion. It may not be the greatest town in the world but iI agree t is def. far from the worst and has many redeeming qualities. The schools are def. not the worst around by far but they do not suit my needs.

Just because you are a teacher in Redditch does not mean that all schooling here is perfect. One particular school failed my husband terribly and one particular teacher has scarred him for life and I am intent on making sure the same does not happen to my children and if that means I need to move from my home town and away from my friends and family then who are you to judge and criticise.

I am moving to a house I love and can afford, will stay in for many years to come. I also work hard to provide for my family, and will have a school system I am happy with.

Additionally you have managed to confuse facts from my posts and Doozergirls so I suggest that maybe you take more care in the future when you read and comment on threads - hopefully you take more care when marking your pupils work.

Er, you live in an old bit but you live in an estate? You're what would be seen as the poor relatives in a traditional village!

You really don't read posts properly, you've gotten us all mixed up. I'm not moving anywhere and no-one's moving to Stratford. I've already stated where I used to live and that's the most expensive area of Redditch by far. Nobody sells they're so far up they're own backsides trying to put their prices higher than everyone elses. I'm saying that potential buyers will look at what they get for their money and make a decision on whether it's worth it. If they want to live somewhere expensive, they will generally choose somewhere well connected with the right kind of shops and restaurants and neighbours to match that.

Please, my 'negative' views are simply the realities of Redditch. I said it was bland. It is bland. I still go there. It has Tesco, I forgot, that's quite handy. :rotfl:

My negative comments were more aimed at people who feel the need to brag.

I think it is you that should 'get over yourself', and realise at no point have I bad-mouthed your 'home'. Yet you have personally attacked my right to my own opinion.

Indeed some parts of Redditch are fine and others are bloody awful. I have been lucky enough to live in parts which are fine. Lucky you to live in a good part too - if you have reached your pinacle in life and have no further ambitions then lucky you again but please do not criticise me for doing the best for my family and improving our standard of living. I do not require your permission or approval (and do not ask for it) but I am also not criticising your life choices which I am sure you have made with all best intentions for yourself and your family.
