Quite simply they are taking the pi**. Even your renewal price in January last year was high. Break your contract and get alternative prices. There is absolutely NO justification for charging 68ppl.

How about going on the UKLPG website
    http://www.uklpg.org/
then in the top right corner 'supplier search' and contact the ones in your area for a price ... maybe even ask F/G? pretending to be a new customer, or get a friend to do it for you?

    :)

Has anyone had experience of running out of LPG even if they are on an automatic telemetry delivery service? If so I would like to hear of their experience, and what needs to be done if I run out and receive a subsequent delivery.

My latest delivery was scheduled for 16 January 2018 and has not materialised.
I have been chasing Calor Gas since 23 January 2018 asking for a delivery date and was told, after the third attempt, Saturday or Sunday but guaranteed Monday 29 January 2018.
I would have run out of LPG had I not taken remedial action by using what little LPG I have for cooking and using alternative means for heating and hot water.
My tank reading now is just above zero plus or minus 5%.

In the meantime I received a letter from Calor Gas asking for a 2.5p per litre plus vat bringing my price up to 37.5p per litre plus vat as my contract is due for renewal 28 January 2018.

Never run out, but I came pretty close once or twice and had several arguments on the phone with Calor .. see my post no. 3010 above.
Is that the right date for your contract renewal? Yesterday? Actually your price seems pretty good, especially for Calor
If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..

    Calor website:

"Additional benefits of our LPG supply

    ..............Clever

Our clever automatic top-up technology makes running out of gas a thing of the past! Our system monitors when your fuel gets low, and automatically schedules a delivery."

...and there's even a lovely video with lots of slo-mo.

Unfortunately Poundnote has had a bit too much slo-mo from Calor, it seems.

And now Poundnote's contract is ending ...and the price is going up. SO - another question - has Calor told him/her s/he can switch? YES, it's part of the ruling from the Competition Commission that suppliers MUST tell their customers they can switch.

Section 4 of the Guide to the Orders made after the domestic bulk liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market investigation , as mentioned in a recent post:
Your existing supplier is required to tell you about when and how you can switch supplier and to refer you to the contact details for the LPG trade association (UKLPG). This information should be provided with new contracts and all invoices.
    ...."new contracts and all invoices"

I confirmed with Calor this morning that my delivery of LPG will be made today.
When I get my delivery note I will know for sure how much LPG was in stock and will be able to calculate from my own records whether my remedial action saved the day.

Also they have informed me of my rights regarding switching etc and have applied the new price on my account last night.

My concern is not the price increase as that will be the subject of some correspondence once I get all the facts together.

It's not quite that easy. The tank capacity market on it is water capacity. LPG isn't that simple - you can't fill it to the brim. The cut-off point will be around 80% water capacity, but will depend on ambient temperature (the delivery volume is corrected to a standardised temperature) and on other factors, including the precise calibration of the cut-off on the truck and on the operator.

All you'll know for sure is that it was close - and you know that now.

Well the answer is that I would have run out or was I in panic mode - at the close of business today I will be wiser.

So the said delivery did not meterialised on 29 January 2018.

Spoke to Calor "Oh it is an overnight run, it will be here today"

I have had my LPG delivery today and my conclusion is that my tank gauge is under reading by 7% that is instead of 0% it should be 7% which means that my stock was 152 litres enough for a further 13 days.

I have recently received a letter from Flogas advising that they are increasing my bulk supply price to 68p per litre as of 5th February. It had been 44.5p until October last year. No quantitative explanation has been given for this rise: just vague claims related to pipeline shutdowns in the North Sea and Libya. I find it hard to believe that this increase is justified by wholesale price changes. Is anyone else on this forum seeing similar rises? Are they justified, or am I being taken for a ride?
Edit to add additional information: I originally took over Flogas contract when moving in to house in January 2015; price then was 44.5p per litre and standing charge of 21.9p per day - no "free gas". Contract renewed for two years in January 2017, still at 44.5ppl (fixed for 6 months) and 21.9ppd. Price was increased to 47.72ppl after six months, then suddenly to 60.62 last autumn, and now 68ppl from Feb18!

For info my contract is up for renewal and today I was quoted by Flogas 38.5p plus vat which is higher than my renewal price.
