Kevie, well done! I have been using this method for a while and i absolutely LOVE the bread it creates. I don't think i could go back to my previous bread making ways now. It's simple and delicious :-)Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Kevie, that's an excellent loaf you made there. My own experience with using flour is that the plain flour (as recommended in the original US edition, which is the one I have) makes a reasonable loaf, but using strong bread flour - ie with a protein level of at least 12% - makes much better bread. I have been using this method for my bread for about 3 years now, and will only use plain flour if I've run out of everything else! I tend to mix up different bread flours anyway, so for example will put white flour, malthouse style, wholemeal all together in my flour box, and then as I use it up, put more of white, more wholemeal and so on.
I find that it keeps the family interested - white bread every day is a little tedious. And when you make pizzas or wraps or chelsea buns...... it all adds to the flavour!
Good luck, and carry on with your home baking.:jMoney saving eco friendly Fertility reflexology specialist :j0 -

Thanks for posting this! It makes lovely bread and so easy
I was having a look around and found these recipes as well, the pumpernickle bread sounds really good, however just done a batch so will have to wait a little."Live each day as if it were your last and garden as though you will live forever"

Hi all, I've just done my first lot of artisan bread and it's amazing! I was a bit sceptical about it (and the other half was downright disbelieving) but it turned out very nicely and it's so easy, definitely better than the bread-machine bread. There are quite a few youtube videos about it from the American couple who popularised the method, I found these useful.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' I am into my 3rd lot of 5 minute a day bread after a failed atempt to get a sour dough starter to activate .this last batch was made using part wholemeal flour and was left for 7 days before baking a loaf from it and it was my best up to now.So pleased ve to have found this thread with the recipe.:T:j0
