minestrone soup
15g marg or 1 tbsp oil
1/2 small onion peeled & chopped
1 carrot peeled & chopped
1/2 celery stalk chopped
1/2 white of leek
110 g cabbage shredded
1.2 l water or chick stock
1 potato peeled & deiced
3 tbsp podded peas
1 tbsp parsley
1 tsp tom paste
50 g small pasta shapes (optional)

Heat margarine in saucepan, fry onion then add carrot, celery and leek. Saute for 2 mins add cabbage and cook for 4 mins

Cover with stock/water add potato, peas, chopped parsley and tomato paste and cook for 20 -25 mins. If adding pasta add this 10 mins prior to cooking. Puree as your baby needs.

Just add the veg that you think he will eat.

I also made this week individual cottage pies (she goes to nursery so have to cook a weeks food in advance)

Cottage pie

4 oz (1/2 cup) ground beef
2oz (1/4 cup) cooked carrots
2oz (1/4 cup) frozen peas, thawed
1 white potato, peeled and cooked, then mashed with a little milk and butter
2 tbsp stockPlace the meat, carrots and peas in a small oven-proof dish and pour in the broth.
Top with the mashed potato, then place the dish in the oven (pre-heated to 400 deg F (200 deg C) until golden on top (about 20 mins).

take off the potato if purreing as it will go gluey and add on afterwards

My dd loves the minestrone soup I
just bought the teeny pasta people put in soups.

May I join in please. I have been cutting back for several months now and have got the total down from £400 per month to £200 per month which I am happy with but need to maintain. So £200 for July for me please. I have been doing the rounds of the supermarkets going to a different one each week and only buying in each what is on offer/cheapest that we normally eat. My freezer is fairly well stocked and the cupboard likewise. My daughter has offered me her nearly new Panasonic breadmaker as she doesn't like it so I should be making my own bread this month. There are 2 of us (plus a little dog) with various GC dropping in/staying over from time to time. I am seriously looking at portion control and have mostly eliminated waste.

I went to Asda twice today! The first time was to get food for an impromptu barbecue at BiL's house and wine for the week and see about the 50p items.
I got 20 raisin bagels, £0.70. 20 scones £0.68. 12 loo rolls £4.00. 14 blocks of butter £7 etc. I spent £23.98 total.

So, I'm one week in and I'm more than a third into my budget. Feeling OK about it though.

ETA: forgot to say that I picked up a packet of Doves yeast for breadmakers from tesco. It was right next to the Allinsons one and only a few pence dearer. I'll give it a bash when I have managed to use up the rest of the bread things I've got kicking around!

weve tried breadsticks whiced he loves but screams at you if you take them out of his mouth to put food in. ...

...4hrs after breakfast he was screaming to be fed but started spitting mashed casserole after 2 spoons.

dont want to sound rude but I dont think you should take stuff out of his mouth or put food in if he doesn't want you to, as this will put him off.

If he gets over hungry this can have a negative affect too. Could you try giving him meals/snacks after 3 hrs instead of 4? - he could be more receptive to it that way. My DS (21 months) doesnt go that long between meals. He eats at 8 milk, 8:20 breakfast, (sometimes has a very light snack at 10) 11:20 lunch, (nap 12til2:30/3) 2:30/3 snack, 5 tea, 7 milk

Other meals you could try are shepherds pie, moroccan lamb & couscous, chilli (without the chilli powder) fish pie, tuna pasta (with small pasta shapes), macaroni cheese, etc...:p

Or you could try these websites for recipes ;)

The netmums feeding kids book is really good :)

I found this book really helpful too as it has loads of easy recipes in it (365 ;) )and they're all divided up into different ages from 6months right up to 6 years. :)Big Book of Recipes for Babies, Toddlers & Children: 365 Quick, Easy and Healthy Dishes: From First Foods to Starting School

I know this isnt the answer you were looking for but...

My DS1 would eat nothing as a toddler - 12 pasta shells and a cocktail sausage if we were lucky. Eventually we were sent by HVisitor to a peadeatrician (sp) who said he was yet to meet a child who would starve itself. HIs advice was to give him pasta for breakfast, lunch and dinner but offer other things as well. We didnt follow the pasta advice - i think we just gave him what we wanted him to eat and left him to eat what he could - he was about 21months at the time.

If he only has one tooth it will be hard to chew so he probably wants more sloppy food - could you hand blend yours. I know its hard when they spit it out but it does take them time to adjust to the texture change. DS3 is 2and a half and still likes his food like meat in little tiny pieces or else he wont bother chewing it.
