I know the feeling Mrs Moneyspinner!!
Being retired, DH often decides he will come grocery shopping with me. Somehow when we get to the checkout there are things in the trolley not on the list and I never saw him put them in!!!!!
How does he do that???
Anyone got any tips for stopping him? I really need to get him better trained!!
Still haven't started on the July budget yet. Quite a bit in the cupboards and freezer to tide us over the next few days.0 -
Hello,
I didn't quite hit my target on the June Grocery Challenge. I aimed for 180, but spent 215 (Boooo!). But when I reviewed my grocery spend over the last six months, I was averaging 261 a month! (Yikes!). So, I did actually drop my grocery bill by 18% last month! (Yippee!). So, that in mind, this month I'll aim for 190.Debt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32
Debt now 01/03/2009 - $63,194.72

I'm in again. Last month wasn't too bad, especially compared to the rest of this year's dire results, so I'm feeling fairly confident this time
Angelnikki - can you put me down for £310 please
That's 2 adults, 3 children, and 28 days (30th June to 27th July). I do nappies and toiletries on separate budgets, so this is food and household only.
Cupboards and freezer are well stocked, so here goes
Good luck everyoneDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
 Hi Guys,
Just realised I have 32 days left in my budget, but then I do have £250, not sure if anyone else has days when they tend to feel a little panicky. will be baking a storm today to manage for the week. Tried to make toffee last night but it ended up a bit of a disaster. Does anyone have a good recipe for this?
SFT - Do you have the webclicky for the coupenet web site? Please
FunkyFunkyMonkey - Welldone you! that menu sounds great, dont suppose you will let us have the syrup tart recipe? and is the choc fudge cake hm?? (must be hormonal today as craving sweet things!)
Ches & Clu - welcome and be warned this site is addictive, however everyone is very kind and dont be fritghtened to ask questions.
BigBird - sorry am no good with clicky things but have you tried http://www.elise.com/recipes/archives/001529apple_chutney.php ooh look at that wow Its a clickable webpage

Count me back in.
My July started 21st June when DH got paid.
Going to stick to my £50 a week for 2 adults and 2 primary school boys, they are now back on packed lunches for school,so hoping £50 will cover it.
Went to Lidl yesterday and spent £34, but spent £6.60 on 2 lots of fish and chips last week for boys as I was ill!
Plan to do some baking today, cake or buns for school and my lunches!
Golden rule for this month is I will only use my `shopping purse` credit card will stay at home!!!
MIL gave me a bag of potoato`s yesterday, so must make sure I use them!!0 -

Lentil freezes well.
Perrywinkle- thanks for the info re soup/slow cooker- found some recipes in the book and am gonna try them soon. First attempt will be moroccan pork. Planning to put it on tomorrow am about 9am, use low temp- and hopefully will be ready for 4pm ish. Will this use loads of power ?, ultimately aiming for overnight cooking.
Made some rolls yesterday- used BM dough cycle but left them to rise for about 5 hours!!! Result= lovely big rolls with huge air pockets in them just like DH and I love, for anyone who has had a Tunnocks roll they were like that- a bit chewy mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Hoping for a NSD today- church in the morning, maybe take DS to the park later depending on my back/weather!!
Have a good MS day everyone....:rotfl: :money: :rotfl:Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I went to Asda twice today! The first time was to get food for an impromptu barbecue at BiL's house and wine for the week and see about the 50p items. I was able to scan my £5 NOTW voucher (out of date 22nd!) despite the shop being £19.03. Our Asda have blocked off their voucher section so the chap controlling the tills just reset it. So I scanned it for SiL's shopping too- and it's still in my purse! I popped in again on our way home from theirs to try and scam- I mean scan them again! It was a different person though and she looked older and more experienced so I left it.
I got 20 raisin bagels, £0.70. 20 scones £0.68. 12 loo rolls £4.00. 14 blocks of butter £7 etc. I spent £23.98.
So, I'm one week in and I'm more than a third into my budget. Feeling OK about it though.
ETA: forgot to say that I picked up a packet of Doves yeast for breadmakers from tesco. It was right next to the Allinsons one and only a few pence dearer. I'll give it a bash when I have managed to use up the rest of the bread things I've got kicking around!
I find this post quite unsavoury, bragging about scamming with vouchers, you are in fact stealing and could well be getting the sales assistant in trouble. im all in favour of money saving and using vouchers, but by using them ligitimatley and without getting others in trouble.0 -
