Hi Karen, not a problem, it takes ages to get the hang of everything, so just keep asking your questions, someone will always help.

I just answered this very question for BigMumma a moment ago (probably about 10 posts ago by now, the way this thread is moving...:D ), so I hope that helps, but if you can't understand my ramblings, just ask again and someone with help you with a more straightforward answer...:rotfl:

Did a super shop in Asda tonight, freezer full to bursting point. Stocked up on meats etc, (don't like to buy them online, like to pick my own). Can now have a delivery over next couple of weeks, which is much easier, or is that me just being lazy, erm.....

Last week we purchased a smoothie maker, tried the first tonight, only a simple one, banana, strawberry, dash of apple juice and ice cubes. It was really nice.

Yesterday we ran out of milk, OH went to Spar, £1.62 for 2 lts, not only dearer but less in the bottle too..used to paying £1.44 for 2.27lts.

Just had my first PM, it was a spammer, I just deleted it, is this correct or should I have reported it somewhere?

FUnkyfunkeymonkey - Thanks for the recipes! do you cook the pastry blind on the tarte? Have you tried hot choc bomb with ice cream? its 150g marg, 150g SR Flour, 150g sugar, 60g cocoa, 3 eggs, and 3 tbs smartprice choc spread. Put into microwaveable pudding bowl choc spread and mix together all rest of ietems and put into bowl. Place a piece of clingfilm losely on top and microwave for 4 mins till springy (my microwave is 950w) take out and turn upside down and the choc will run down the sides! lovely with ice cream.

Hi dink, no need to cook the pastry blind, doesn't go soggy - but not sure if the mermaid pie dish helps in that department - my pies always used to go soggy.

That choc bomb sounds very yummy, I'll have to give that a go.

Ah, now that does make sense. I like them crispy or soft, but the little monkeys like them soft.

Good luck with the weight loss.

I hope someone can help me.

I love all your recipes but find it hard to follow them - I'm not a great cook and they seem really complicated.

However, I'm determined to persevere and crack some of them. I'm really keen to make some of the cakes as we've got some events coming up that need me to bring something along. My problem is that I have no baking kitchen equipment and I cannot afford to buy the whole lot in one go. I also need to know where to buy cheaply but not too sabby if that makes sense. I really have nothing - no cake tins, mixing bowls, rolling pin - nothing!

Any advice would be most welcome. :embarasse

Well I thought that I would be ok this month, and already I have a huge order coming from tesco tomorrow. I will update when it arrives.
Thought that I would be very MSE and when I passed the local greengrocers they were doing a salad selection for £2.00. got an iceberg lettuce, cucumber, spring onions, red pepper, and packet of cherry tomatoes on the vine.
As my bread in the machine didnt work, I had t buy a sandwich, £1.49 in Wilkinsons. Spent on sugar, 75p, although that ended up at work, so I will have to claim that back again.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

  • I bought 3 News of the Worlds yesterday and got 3 x £5 vouchers, so today I took 3 trips around Tescos.

I got 2 'free' tins of golden syrup - they were old stock and had the 80p vouchers on the lid, the vouchers ran out today 30/06/08, so at the till I took the vouchers off and paid for the syrup also = 80p.

Tesco are also discontinuing their baking parchment - they call it 8m unbleached non-stick baking paper, it is currently priced at 38p instead of 76p - I love this stuff, 'cos unlike greaseproof paper you don't have to grease it because it has been treated with silicones. I bought a box load (24) should last me forever - well at least a year of baking.

I have now spent £100.85 of my July Grocery Money - but the only thing I need for the next 4 weeks will be milk, eggs, F&V. I should keep within £200 no trouble.
