I kinda forgot that as I don't work summer hols and am away this will be a weird month for food. So... no 2nd veg box and eating out in Paris :j, I think I'm gonna call it quits now and say I have learnt a lot and will try again in September which will be a normal month.
Thanks for everything lovely people!
We hit the burger bars (McD Le Quick etc) for coffee - worked out about 50p per cup as opposed to £4 or so. As we went in t'winter & needed hot drinks for refuelling this made a big difference over a week. Also (don't know if still teh case) some cafes had a 3-tier pricing structure depending on where you sat - cheapest stood by the bar, next the tables inside, dearest the pavement tables.
Food wise we hit Le Quick for burgers for lunch a couple of times and also hit a shop a couple of times and bought a baguette and a lump of cheese for DIY lunch.
Can't remember more - while back now - pre children!
Have a fab time!

MORNING
There is a weird thing in the sky called THE SUN and it is shining!!!!!!
Lovely here at the mo, had a thunderstorm and battering rain ablut 1.30am, but it is glorious now.
Spent £12.87 in Lidl last night on fruit, veg and got 5 of their delicious pies reduced to £1.00 each for this week - the steak one is beautiful and still to try the chicken and ham one, could be tonight I think.
Have over 80 tomatoes on my plants - all green at the moment ranging in size from very very smalll to fairly large beef tomatoes. Planning on pulling some carrots up tonight for tea, so will try and take a photo and upload it later (Yeah right!!! technical is not us!!)
Have agood day everyone.. Hugs to those who need them and especially to Mrs M - your garden is wonderful - you are an inspiration to us all.Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j
To start work on the credit cards now!!0 -
Morning all, awful here today, wind and rain!
Hoping for a 10th NSD as no budget left and tbh it would be silly to buy any more anything with the amount we have in!
Making muffins and the lemon chicken today.
Hugs to everybody who wants one.

Hi everyone. I had a NSD yesterday. Today I will be buying a few bits as were all out at friends for the day. So will buy some bits towards lunch and some cakes to take to other friends were calling into later on in the afternoon. I was going to bake last night after i got home from work. However, DH was busy cleaning the kitchen not something that happens very often. In fact cant remember when it last happened. So I decided not to so he could carry on cleaning. otherwise he would of stopped I'm sure!:D

Don't know if anyone has any suggestions but DS is really thin (still wearing 12-18 months shorts and he's 5 in December) but also quite tall. Does anyone know where I might be able to get him some school trousers that actually fit him? Thanks, Kaz.
Have skimmed through posts and don't think anyone has mentioned John Lewis yet.
I have been buying schoolwear there for [STRIKE]25 years [/STRIKE]a long time, since eldest was 5. Youngest just about to go into 6th form, so won't need to this year!
Anyway, son is skinny, daughters were always a bit wider. They sell trousers and skirts in waist sizes and different lengths. I last paid 11 pounds for a pair, more than the 'cheap shops' but at least they fit. I never had any problems with washing and [STRIKE]not ironing[/STRIKE] ironing them.
Don't know if there is a store near you, but if you can get to one when it isn't busy, not like we always did the week before the start of term, the staff are extremely helpful, measuring and suggesting those to try.
Just checked the website, this shows many of them as age and different lengths, (with a size chart) so you could buy a younger age to get the waist size and longer length. (Thinks piggy points too)
Have spent nothing for 10 days, but now used up all the fresh fruit, frozen milk and sliced bread. Gave DH hm bread for his lunch and he said 'it was OK but....'
The rest of us would have enjoyed it, what a waste.
Out to shops in a minute, Dd needs an outfit for a party tonight, Rocky horror show theme, so got to get fabric and then get the sewing machine out. Grocery shopping will have to be later.
Have a good weekend everyone

Morning all
A NSD for me today :j ..hoping to get a few more of these under my belt for the next few days... it helps that i really don't think i can wedge anything else in the fridge/freezers..oooh i have just enough freezer room for the huge batch of chilli i made last night, once i have portioned it up...hubby was hoping i wouldn't have room so he could eat it for the next few days in a row
... nasty stuff.
I managed to get 2 tubs of the extra cheese sauce i made in there and the soya bean casserole made 6 portions in the freezer for me too :T .
Hubby has said that he will be more than happy to have some of the HM soups out of the freezer for his dinners to use them up and make some space-so that helps:D
This morning i have a super seedy/granary loaf under way..just waiting for it to finish proving so i can get it in the tin.
Have nothing much else to do today.. hubby is having chilli tonight, have the chicken roast and some of the cauli/broccoli cheese in the fridge (the rest is in the freezer) and so just need to do a few potatoes, beans and carrots to go with that for tomorrows dinner.
Its to wet to get out in the garden, so im planning meal planning and then x stitching for the rest of the day..
I have mentioned on another thread that im going to start x stitching things to take back to the uk next time for the hospice that looked after sis at home to sell at their fete to raise funds... have come up with cards, bookmarks and those small scented cushions that you hang up -but if anyone has more ideas -please let me know. Im going to do a big pic for them to hang in the hospice or to raffle off, but i thought smaller items would sell better... so any ideas folks..let me know
right i had better get on with it...
have a great day everyone and keep up the great work-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

What a lovely idea MrsMc...just a thought but have you had a look at the "Crafty for Crimbo" & "How Can I Make This" threads? Quite a few X-stitchers on those, along with other ideas that I'm certain you'll enjoy:p And those little knitted crimbo decorations would be marvellous for folk to buy in memory of their loved one, particularly an angel?
Must be summat in the air MandyMoo cuz I went to get the milk out the fridge 7:30 Tuesday morning, & the whole bluddin door came off in my hand:eek: Not totally unexpected cuz there's always been a problem with that hinge, but still a rather painful shock to both my body & my bank balance:mad: Unfortunately there are no longer any spare parts, so I am now the proud--albeit a damned sight poorer--owner of a sparkly new Fridge Freezer. Bigger fridge but smaller freezer space than the last one, but I'll cope!
Like the idea of recording NSDs so might begin that next month, but had £11:83 yesterday for loo roll on offer in Suminfields, milk etc.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

I would say get DH to do it but that doesn't work!
How about putting it in the slow cooker, it virtually falls off the bones then.
There was a discussion about cooking fish pie the other day and there was a conflab about cooking the fish first. I never cook the fish first, and it's always cooked fine when I get it out of the oven but mine is a fan oven- don't know if that helps.
Angelatgraceland, I noticed you are in North somerset. If you know where puxton park is then they sell free range eggs for £1.35 for 10. I didn't think that was too bad as I usually pay 10p per egg for caged ones from the supermarket. They do have a lovely farm shop there and they sell ecover products so that you can refill your tubs there.
MrsM- so pleased to see you're back, even if it's not the best circumstances. So sorry about your news.
Went to the play farm today and spent £4.35 on coffee, a bun some juice and 10 eggs. I think it will have to come from the grocery budget not the treats because we've spent loads from the treats budget this month already.
Nearly went to Puxton Park last week as there was a special anniversary or something on but unless Im out that way its a bit far. Good price though-same as my neighbour paid. Seems to be that FR eggs are in short supply except for the overpriced ones. Unfortunately I miss the market as I seem to be working on Fridays lately. That reminds me-Ive got to go back in today to collect the organic reduced milk I bought yesterday and put in the fridge! Luckily its less than a mile and I will be shopping just yards away anyway.Got to resist the final clearance in M & Co too-some great bargains I could be tempted by. Looking for an edentical printer to mine on ebay and hoping its still cheap and available in 2 days time! I will never stockpile inks again however cheap they are. Twice Ive done this then ended up slinging the printer and giving away the inks. Not very moneysavig. :+(Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
