    Hiya guys,
I've done quite well so far, but an old friend of mine, who is quite ill with the dreaded C, has asked me to take him shopping. Of course I don't mind but am a bit worried that he'll be able to manage, bless him. Any way I'll have fun helping him to spend, but will have to be careful not to spend any myself. Do you guys think I will manage to have a NSD or not?
That is the question eh, I think I will, DP thinks I wont (that's a good reason to hold out and DP will be wrong:j :j :j

welcome Savingpennies, I'm sure you'll do fine. I've managed to reduce my spending by £100 a month since joining in May. It's scary just how easy that was:eek: .

Popped into Mr A today for some milk. I picked up a few supercook bits while I was in there, but not too many, someone got there before be and cleared out most of the stock, so I only spent £1.29. Will update siggy in a mo.

DH is at his end of term party, and I couldn't be bothered to cook just for me, so I had beans on toast. Haven't had it for ages and had forgotton just how tasty it is. I think I'll have to slip that into the menu plan sometime soon.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j

Treat your meal plan to HM takeaway meals that you like and can cook cheaply.

    We do fish n chips,chicken korma,hm burgers.....

You need to factor in the wow so you don't lose interest too soon and include OH and kids in what they want to eat to avoid the "errgghhh"

I plan for a month and then rejig the planner weekly for whoopsies or left overs which we probably have 1-2 times a month ( everyone having 1 portion of what they fancy)

You can also plan and plan and fall off the wagon but dust yourself down and go for it again.

Rule number 1 - Shop for what you have planned and shop regularly

Nearly a no spend day today but forgot to take my rolls I made, so had to get something to eat on the way home. The only thing I found on the way back down the motorway was a MrMac - and I HATE those - but just grabbed a kids meal with coffee - £2.29 to add to total - Ohh, what I could have done with that money..... makes me soooo mad

I know it isn't the healthiest thing ever but I buy cereal bars from Poundland 8 trackers for £1) or cheap at the supermarket (Chewee bars BOGOF at the mo in Tesco) and stash a box under my car seat, or you could have them in the boot. For those snack moments they keep off the cravings for long enough normally...

I signed up to bring a trifle to a bring-and-share lunch on Sunday. How best to do it OS/MS? (We're not near an ASDA but are within OK reach of all the other supermarkets.) Any suggestions of tried-and-tested MS cake recipes that would work well in a trifle?

    Cheers,

    saf

Hi well this is how I do my trifle:
One pack of jelly(well Im lucky Ive go some 8p ones left)-own brand will do.
One tin of fruit cocktail-32p in Somerfield
Some trifle sponges(or a bit of any sponge cake)-you could buy a cheap packet of fairy cakes?
I pint of custard-Birds that you make yourself is best-rather than instant which is a bit runny
Elmlea is BOGOF in Co-op at the mo.
Look for any cheap supercook sprinkles anywhere if desired.
Or could grate some chocolate on top or some small sweets or cherries-or nothing at all of course.
Late night-Co-op reduce their strawberries to 99p Ive found-or you may have some growing in your garden.

Off topic-Coop have fresh chilled pizzas at £2.99 Bogof. I got some tonight as Im leaving 3 at home unattended for the weekend(DH and eldest 2)and want to make sure they get fed.

    Sigh.

Need to buy some stuff tomorrow - fridge pots, cherry toms, bananas, abidec, milk, tissues. ( :o and ingredients for bounty balls)

My mate rang - we are going to a local shopping centre on Thursday. So, even though I am not going to go mad, well, snack for me, snack for DS, etc. Oh, and shoes for him, though they are not included in the GC.

Not even half way through the month and I reckon I am stuffed. But I am absolutely determined not to go over by a penny more than necessary!

Thank you to this thread, it is really helping me stay focussed.
    Always another chapter

Seeing as I'm chocolate obssessed, I see KAAT_LADY as a kit kat, Zoe is a cat, MrsM is a character from Charles Dickens, kind of like Mrs Miggins from Blackadder, AngelNicki is obviously an angel, but angelatgraceland is elvis with an angel fluttering at his shoulder, Sunny Donny is a container of Sunny Delight and Blairweetch is a scary tree, like in Snow White when she gets lost in the woods (sorry!!). I have a vivid imagination!!
