Went to Asda at 3pm, just for milk, bread (DH likes white sliced) bread flour, I like hm and so do kids, live yogurt to start making my own, and bananas.

It was like Christmas, queuing from both directions to get in to the car park and complete gridlock in it.

Saw 3 loaves at 3 for 2.50, so put back the one I was getting, and when I checked my receipt at home they have scanned at 1.24 each and a different type, so not happy about that.

Spent 27.28, so with the 1.07 in Tesco express last night have 220.85 left for the month.

Evening meal is braised steak, (long time in the freezer) 'tired' potatoes (had arms and legs and were [STRIKE]a bit[/STRIKE] very soft yesterday, but cut them off, cut them up and left in cold water overnight and they have revived, DH thinks I have done him a favour by peeling the potatoes as it is always his job), carrots and brocoli. Better get on with it I suppose.

    Hi

Spent £17.01 in Mr M today. Mind you that is most of the DD's pack up stuff for next week so not toooo bad .

I dont know how every one shops but I seem to find buying every day for just what I need works for me. Sounds strange but at least I am not left with things in the cupboard or freezer that I will never eat. Horses for course's I suppose.

Have a great Sunday night and I am off to work later so will catch up then

i guess it been a national baking day eh dink? :rotfl: xxx

LOL! It has here, too. I've joined Dink:

    DD & I have made:
    12 cornflake cakes (syrup/ butter & cocoa)
    6 crispie cakes (as above)
    around 80 twinks
    a walnut & banana loa
a huge load of crumble mix for freezing
    a loaf pf bread
    the yogurt/ choc cake

Has anyone else found the yog cake to cook quicker than the stated time of 1 hr 30mins? I have a fan oven & reduced temp slightly to 160 to compensate - but it was still cooked in an hour (tested by spring-touching, it had shrank from sides and I shoved a skewer in - and then cut a piece out to make sure (but put it back!))

Hope everyone has a fab July :D:D

Hi all, sorry I've been out of circulation for the past couple of months, still been trying to stick to budget just not able to post. Hope everyone is doing well and is having success with their spends, despite increasing prices.
Can I please be put down for £150 for the month from 28th June to 31st July for 2 adults, 3 cats, 3 kittens and 2 guinea pigs :D I'll keep a separate tally for people and pet food, see who eats better! ;)
So far I've spent £44.69  did the rounds of the reduced sections of 3 supermarkets today, got a few things but not as much as I would've liked. Menu planning is on the cards in the next few days so that'll help.
    Good luck for July everyone!

    Hi all,
as it was pay day on Friday I did a major shop as OH thought we had been robbed as no food in fridge and nothing he liked in freezer - (didn't look very hard though).
Saturday did town shopping - Sainsburys 26.15 (80% was reduced and £2.00 off voucher) worked out I got £39 worth of shopping. Got a lovely leg of lamb sat in the freezer til next Sunday, bought bread rolls and 2 x 4 tins of Branston baked beans for £2.18 in poundland - OH thinks they are better than Heinz!!!
Up early this morning, no mean feat as we went to the races yesterday and also Madness were performing after the races and then went for a meal, home for 1.30am!!!! Money from going out fund. Went with £50 and came home with £24 yes a couple of winners did help!!! :T

Bought 2 copies of the NOTW for the £5 vouchers. Went to Mr T's after lunch and filled the trolley with reduced or BOGOF's - found the 10p item. It is 30 zinc tablets for 10p - there were 6 packs on the shelf so all poured into one bottle (Nov 09 expiry) and in the cupboard.
Lamb shanks 2 packs for £1.09 each and also 18 bottles of Kronenburg for £7.74, so got 2 packs as we will save these for OH birthday BBQ in August.
Once the lad on the till had clocked up £32, I asked him if I could pay for that first, he said yes and I used one voucher, and then put rest of shopping though and used second voucher. He said I was about the third person today to do that - must be some MSE experts in MrT at Doncaster then!!!!

I know I have used up half of my budget, but will only need fruit and veg - working on £10-15 per week which will let me come in UNDER BUDGET - yeah dream on .......

Welcome to all newbies - you will become addicted - be prepared to have lots of new friends when you start baking!!!
Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j
To start work on the credit cards now!!

I already added you back in Mooloo ;) A lot of people were missing from the list that MrsM gave me to use, it's not intentional - I think it just must have been the first list from a while ago that she uses as the template each month instead of using the previous months IYSWIM

funkyfunkymonkey & MrDT I've added your recipes to the index on the first page. :p

    Welcome all Newbies :hello:

Not done this challenge for a couple of months, I need to get a bit of serious saving done over the next few months so I'm going to re-join the challenge.

Aim for all shopping ( food / toiletries / cleaning and dog food) for July is £230. This is for 2 adults, 5 children and 2 dogs.
