My account still says parcel information not available - I am getting silly reading this thread several times a day, getting worried, and then checking my GU account!Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Soreen Kierkegaard 1854.0 -

hi termin8tor,
i have had another look at the camera and its features, its a good compact camera, with basic features.it is definetly worth the £252 or about £230 after cashback, but i think the biggest thing that i am not happy with is the lcd screen as i said in an earlier post.
its very grainy you would have thought that on a sony product you would have expected something better.
if i had paid the full price on this camcorder i would have sent it straight back for a refund.
another thing is that because the camcorder is so light when zooming in on a subject it is very very hard to keep the camera still, you will get alot of shake on your recordings.
playback of some tapes on my plasma of previous holidays are ok,there is a slight bit of interference/wavy lines from the av output,if it had a s-video output im sure the picture would be alot better.
i will try burning a few tapes onto dvd and let you know what the results are.0 -

I appreciate the input also.
With reference to the screen, thats something I can live with, after all the screen is only a glorified viewfinder/image framer.
Reference the weight, I doubt this has any effect on image shake. It is more likely that it is the old story, a camcorder held in your hands and used with a screen, will produce far more picture shake than one held in your hands and "anchored" to your head as you use the viewfinder.
Try a few snaps with a digital camera using the screen, and then using the viewfinder, you should see an improvement in results.
I'm looking forward to hearing how the "burned" product turns out, as that will be pretty much my usage.... video then burn to DVD/VCD etc.The MSE Dictionary

ok,guys the dvd results should be done in about an hour or so. i will report back then0

ok,not very good news on the dvd burning.
the final dvd results were grainy as previously seen on the sonys lcd display.
that was using an apple Mac and using the toast software on the highest quality setting connected via a firewire cable.
looks like i maybe sending the camcorder back?
dvd recordings previously done on a canon dv camcorder were much better quality and that was recording the same tape i recorded on the sony.0 -
i will try another tape just to be sure0
