Another week over and done. Been to DS2s parents evening it was good. With a bit of hardwork he should get his predicted grades.

Been to the accountants to sign off the tax forms, should be ok.

Work is driving me batty, really not enjoying it at the moment. Still it pays the bills must keep saying it.

Cough hasn't managed to go away yet but its not as bad as it was. Last night was the first sleep without any tablets.

Managed to source DD1s car insurance. Very expensive and had to go on a cc. Now going to do a balance transfer for a 0% and get it cleared.

Tried to send 3 passport renewals away but apparently 2 sets of the photos weren't correct even though I had them done in a shop. Not impressed.

DD1s car only cost £20 as our friendly mechanic managed to adjust the clutch and get it working, very large sigh of relief over that one! Nothing planned for the weekend.

Snow here today, chaps are off school and its my day off so going nowhere fast. Was supposed to be meeting a friend and cuddling her new cocker puppy. Will have to rearrange.

Found out on Monday night there was going to be an internal promotion for assistant office manager. Have been thinking about it all week and applications have to be in by Friday. After lots of thoughts have decided not to go for it. I think its already sewn up and know whose going to get it, so rather not go through the process, don't particularly want to go full time and I have a life, something the other candidate hasn't.

Debt busting seems to be going ok. Need DS1 to get his act together and get some board paid. He hasn't paid anything since he came back, yet has had a full on social life! Time to get tough.

Have sorted DD1s insurance, ouch is all I'll say on that one. Still it has proved useful as she could pick her sister up on Monday when she wasn't feeling well. Also they have been working the same shift so she's been doing the driving.

Hi Lu , belated Happy Birt;hday, Xmas and New Year to you :eek: All sounds good with you. My DS1 also passed his driving test on the 7th, and I was praying it wouldnt snow too :rotfl: Insurance is going to be expensive but as you say very useful when you need a driver. DS1 was able to take the car for NCT (MOT) and was great as Im not up to driving very far just yet. Hope work is going ok think youre probably right with the manager job, better off having a life I say. How are you getting on with the gym? I can feel the pounds creeping on as Ive not been able for any exercise hopefully doing some light swimming this evening even if its just a splash Im really missing it now. Have a wedding in March and would love to look a bit nice for that. Promise Ill be back on here a bit more now;)

Scores on the doors for January:

My credit card £990 to £329 and lost 4LBs in weight.

OHs card has gone up with DD1s insurance but it has now been transferred to a 0% deal. Will hopefully clear my card and then concentrate on OHs.

In other news booked a holiday cottage for a week in August. Have dropped a clanger as I forgot about the chaps getting their results. It will mean that one of them misses either the A level or GCSE results. Didn't even think about it.

It also means DS2 is home from Madagascar for 3 days before he goes on holiday. It's ok for some!

There has been an internal promotion up for offers at work. Agonised for ages whether to apply, not sleeping etc. In the end I decided not to go for it. I slept like a log once I'd made that decision, so hopefully the right one! Have had an office junior start, she's very quiet but seems nice enough. Also hopefully got a payrise as of this week. Did have a chat with the office manager regarding the promotion and did tell him I thought the promotion was a done deal (with the girl who got it) and those were my reasons for not applying. Felt better to get that off my chest, tell you I'm rubbish at office politics.

I felt guilty that we hadn't decorated DD2s room, we were supposed to do it last year and never got round to it. I said that as she had nothing on this half term if she really wanted her room doing she could strip it. Came home Monday night and the room was stripped. She has worked like a trooper and it is finished. Went to Ikea and got a new wardrobe and drawers for her. It looks really good even if I do say so myself.

DS1s car isn't right. Took it to our frinedly mechanic and he said the back axle is knackered and won't get through the MOT (due March) and he can't replace it as 99% of the time it's not right. Sigh.

DD1s car is on borrowed time and looks like the clutch will need doing sooner rather than later. Another sigh.

Going to my nieces engagement party this weekend and potentially car shopping. Will also call in and see mum and stepdad. Getting my hair done today and typically its raining. Had to monitor my blood pressure for a week but can't get the machine to work, so I'll have to drop that back in. Had a nurse check up thing a few weeks ago and she has confirmed I'm still a Bramley...

Money news. Still not got enough. Have managed to balance transfer some of OHs onto a 0% with no balance transfer fee. Took out an M&S card to get 20% off (saved £18) some purchases, I can also do a balance transfer onto that card when I know what the limit is, there will be a transfer fee. It also depends how much DS1s car is going to be, as the bank of mum and dad will be helping out.

Gosh it has been a while. Scores on the doors, still got a bit of cc debt on my card but that's only because I bought DD1s 18th present (birthday not till June but it was a bargain). Most of OHs debt has gone onto a 0% card. DS1 has paid a chunk off his car and has a little bit left to go. Hopefully he will clear that next week.

DS1 has been working very hard and has just finished 2 weeks of night lambing. He does resemble a zombie! I managed to go with him for part of a night, I only stayed till just after 12pm/am. Had an absolute whale of a time and the sheep were firing them out left right and centre. I did get up when DS1 came home as he needed to go into town to buy his GFs birthday present and I didn't want him driving after being up all night. OH managed to go the next night and he loved it as well. Whilst in town I did place a sneaky bet on the National but didn't win.

DD1 has got a meeting with the WI about a £1000 grant they offer to people. Fingers crossed she gets that as it will help with her budgets for uni. Her mock results were awful, so I hope she knuckles down and does some revision. No amount of nagging has helped and at the end of the day its up to her.

DS2 has just about got all the money saved up for his Madagascar trip. He sold his racing go kart and that has really helped. He needs to save up for his injections, spending money and the last bit of kit he needs.

DD2 has worked most of the holidays and is busy saving. She does make me laugh. We had to get a new till at the workshop and she bagged the old one. She comes home from work and puts her wages into the till. I asked her what she was going to do when she put her money into her savings account and she said she was just going to fill it up again!

Not sure what the totals are on the cards, just waiting for the statements to come in.

At least today looks like its going to be a nice day. I was sick of hearing how lovely it was on the radio yesterday as we sat shivering at 10 degrees.

Think that's it for now. Have a good one.
