Giving shares for Christmas
How can I give my adult offspring company shares as presents? I have no shares myself- I want them not to share my phobia. I know very little about shares - except that they're a Good Thing long term.

How many Funds?
Hey, I'm just about to begin investing in Funds through H&L, I was wondering how do you guys go about investing? I mean do you do it all within your S&S ISA or use their Fund Account. I'm taking the route of using my S&S allowance, but I've already used up £5100 for my Cash ISA, and investing £5100 doesn't seem to be much,…

Hargreaves and Lansdown Stocks&Shares ISA
It seems these can be started with only £1000 online compared to say £3000 in Barclays (IIRC). But do you have to invest yourself in funds/bonds etc? In Barclays I believe a fund manager does it for you.

Saving / Investing for Child's Future
Hi folks, I'm looking for some advice on saving for my child's future. She's 13 months old at the moment and since she was born, we've put away £30 a month and birthday money etc.... (I know it's not mega amounts but it's better than nothing!). When she was born, we opened a saving's account with Halifax and earned 6%…

Fund holding overlap query
Hi all, I am in the process of adding a few more funds to my S&S ISA portfolio and doing as much research as I can. I have analysed them through the Morning Star tool. There is some overlap between holdings. Now as my user name states I am a new investor and was wondering whether or not a little overlap is ok, should be…

Costing money to get my money out!!
I've got a 2 year bond at 5% maturing on 22nd December with Natwest, they have given me the option to reinvest it with them at 3.5% for another 2 year bond. However there is a slight catch, since the new bond doesn't open until 4th Jan 2011, my matured bond will be kept in an account giving about 0.10% and then be…

Halifax Interest Rate Reduction
Although I do try to check interest rates regularly, I noticed today that the rate on my Halifax Web Saver Extra was reduced 3 weeks or so ago. I remembered reading that the FSA guidelines now recommend (require ?) that Financial Institutions give you notice of rate changes in many circumstances, so called Halifax to find…

Selftrade Certificates
Sorry to keep posting about my ongoing nightmare. I am in the process of closing my account with Selftrade. They just emailed me to say that they cannot issue certificates for foreign stock or any kind of unit trusts etc. Only stock on the LSE. So I have nothing on the LSE. I can't have certificates. Does this sound about…

Alliance and Leicester Savings
I can't beleive how difficult Santander have made it to find out the current interest rate on some of their savings accounts. My wife has an Onlinesaver Issue 7 account but I cannot find the information on their site and they have not replied to my wifes e massages. Surely there's something wrong here.

Best all round savings provider
Hi I am looking at opening a new savings account to receive regular credits of maybe £15-20ish per week with no initial lump sum deposit and I expect this to be long term but have some conditions: I want a decent bonus free interest rate as I don't want to move my funds each year. No penalties for withdrawals (not…

Nationwide Internet Savings 2.99%
Nationwide My Save Online Plus looks like a good savings rate for those who do not require regular access to funds. Pays an all in rate of 2.99% which is variable and includes a 1.45% bonus. However beware - rate is awful if you make more than 1 withdrawal in 12 months.

Can someone confirm to me that Santander online banking has changed? First Direct Everyday Saver - 1% Bonus
For the last year I have received the 1% Bonus on my First Direct Everyday e-Saver account to give me the 1.25% interest rate. Now that the offer has finished and I now earn the measly 0.25% interest I was wondering if anyone has tried to apply for a second time for the bonus - I can't see anything in the offer online that…

Santander Business Bond
Hi mse forum, My parents bought a 1 Year Loyalty Tracker (3.0%) from Santander for their company. It is a business bond. I'm not quite sure how bonds work. I understand that the money invested in a bond is is lent out to another group of companies. I've now been reading a lot that the bond markets face potential collapse.…
