Hi there I'm not sure if anyone can answer this one. I'm currently paying back child tax credits and have been for the last year and I'm not actually sure if I should be. At the time I was claiming them I had had a particularly lousy time and was a single parent living with my elderly parents, I wasn't working at the time.…

When they separated,…

Son off to uni
So one of my 3 kiddies is going to universtity in a few weeks time. Anyone know what the process is for the CMS people? Am I required to let them know, or must it come from my ex as I am the NRP? Or are they clever enough to figure it out for themselves due to CB ending. I would prefer to be re-assessed due to this change…

back dated child support
My son is now 26, but my husband left us when he was 12. Due to his irresponsiblity and drug abuse we lost our home and I have had to work full time to support ourselves not receiving any money from him at all. He was unemployed and of no fixed abode so there was no point in trying to claim anything from him I have now…

Ex has applied for variation in CM
I've recently received a letter from the CMS informing me that XH has applied for a variation in his CM payment. Apparently he's applying for a variation due to contributing to the mortgage on the FMH "with no legal obligation to do so", however although I live in the house with our children it has been ordered through the…

Advice?
My husband pays £77 a week child support to his ex. His son is 18 is in college and works and has recently become a father himself. My question is when does a child stop being a child and surely if he's fathered his own child we shouldn't have to pay such a ludicrous amount? Advice would be grately appreciated.

Unemployment because of illness
I need some advice on possible future retrospective claims for child maintenance payments. I've been diagnosed with a condition that is preventing me from working, so I've lost my job. I'm hoping to get this treated and find new employment in the future as I can't afford to not work. Do I still have to pay my ex for child…

Work child care
I work in an independent fee paying school and kids of staff who go to the school (and pay for this) have in the past been able to go to the after school care that the school runs free of charge. The school is looking to start charging at 50% of the normal rate for kids of staff members in the autumn. We've been told that…

Am I the only one who thinks it isn't right...
Basically my ex wife & I have 2 children, our daughter (13) lives with me & our son (10) lives with her. We split the care 50:50, as in our kids spend every weekend & all school holidays together. We both work & she has re-married. Her husband works as a social worker. Most people in this situation, i.e. with care of one…

I have spent the last 3 years trying to get child maintenance from my ex for our two children, one of which is disabled. He is a self-employed contractor and claimed he only paid himself the minimum wage.
