Contract effected Ex-Dividend
I've just put a lump sum into an equity income fund on IWeb. The trade confirmation says 'This contract was effected "Ex-Dividend"'. I know what the Ex-Dividend date is in relation to dividend payments but I'm not sure what IWeb mean by the contract being effected Ex-Dividend. Can anybody enlighten me, please?

HSDL - Automatic Div Reinvestment
A stock I hold in my ISA with Halifax paid a dividend yesterday, and I've selected automatic reinvestment. I've checked the account today and nothing is showing so I contacted the live chat rep, who said it'll be a few working days before it's processed?! Is this normal for Halifax? I'm not sure why it takes so long? I…

Advice on savings
Hi could anyone advise me of the best place to put £100,000? It may be needed in the near future for care purposes but not at short notice. Also the best place to invest £7500-10000 for a teenager as a trustee? Thank you.

Assetz Capital
Has anyone had problems investing with Assetz Capital? My wife has invested with them since 2017 because their interest rate is around 4% which is higher than high street banks and online savings companies. She is considering putting more money into this particular investment and, before she does, we would like to know if…

Managing ISAs
Hi everyone, First time posting on this forum but have benefitted hugely from the advice I've read so far! A question on managing S&S ISAs on different platforms. For context: I opened and paid into ISA 1 with one platform in the previous tax year. I opened and have been paying into ISA 2 with a different platform in this…

Vanguard Platform Fee's
I have currently invested my 20k ISA allowance with Vanguard and also transferred 50k to Vanguard from another provider. For simplicity if everything was to remain as current, would I pay platform charges on my invested sum only ( 20k @ 0.15% = £30) or would both the invested sum 20k and the sum not invested 50k be…

Setting up a kids savers account when the kid lives overseas
Hi. I am a UK citizen trying to set up a kids savers account for my nephew, with me acting as the Trustee until he is older. He lives in Germany, though has a UK passport. I'm resident in the UK and my brother (his dad) has a UK address here too, though is resident in Germany too. I have tried the Halifax and RBS but both…

Tracking live fund performance - Vanguard
I'm aware Vanguard doesn't provide any App or live tracking feeds. Is there any 3rd party App or means could be used for monitoring without having to login each time? (Not for me, but for my partner who wants to have a better idea of the performance trend before moving forward. I did remind him past performance can't…

Selling Santander Shares
I've had two 'lots' of shares in Santander bank from the day they were given from the old Abbey National Bank. But they're a bit more trouble than they're worth. What's the most convenient and / or cheapest way to sell them? I am not a member of any share dealing outfit.

Share dealing platform
I am currently with EQi for my share dealings. As you know they have been taken over by ii. I'm not happy with their fees. I only do up to 10 share transactions per year, so their fee of £9.99 per month and £7.99 per share transaction, would mean that my annual fees will be over £200. Is there another share dealing…

Is bitcoin just a giant game of “chicken”?
We are now at the stage here the vast majority of commentators
have concluded that bitcoin will never be a major currency, due to its economic
and technical drawbacks. There is still a debate raging as to whether bitcoin will
become the “new gold” and last as a transferable monetary token for hundreds of
years, or whether…
