iWeb - Get what you pay for?
I tried to buy PHSP etf on iWeb several times and every time was unable to trade; only given the option of a 'negotiated deal' at an unspecified price. Went to another trading platform and could deal with no problem at all. Went back to iWeb but could not deal. Can anyone explain why that is?

Portfolio Reassessment - Critique
In February
this year, my husband and I decided to change platforms. We moved all our
investments into cash because we also wanted to reassess our investment
portfolio and make some changes. We have been investing on a DIY basis for a
number of years with no particular strategy and up to now have only been
invested in a…

Cashing in premium Bonds
This is a Sunday afternoon / lockdown type post and not really MSE so don't take it too seriously. My parents bought me £5 worth of Premium Bonds in the 50s when I was a child. I found these a few years ago with a very old address on them. Nevertheless, I was able to get the address updated and open an NS&I online account…

Saving Bonds with Building Societies, banks and Others, are they safe?
I'm aware about the finical protection scheme for the UK and EU. Are straightforward bonds safe? I am aware that some bonds states your income can go down, investment is at risk but I'm talking about just plain savings. I've looked on this site best rate is about 1.6 I think for 12 months.

Transfers between NS&I accounts
I have decided to put £50k into Premium Bonds, just for fun, given the woeful interest rates. Currently this cash is sitting in my NS&I Income Bonds account and I'd like to keep it there as long as possible earning interest before moving it across to my Premium Bonds account. Are transfers between NS&I account instant,…

Nominated custodian account for foreign shares
I have recently left a company where I had invested in a share plan. As I have left, they have sent a letter asking what I want to do with the shares, because they can’t stay in the plan. Since most shares have gone down recently, it makes sense to keep them for now. I need to give them details of my nominated custodian…

Impact of QE on bond markets
The papers are reporting that £150bn of QE/bond buying is
going to be announced. What does this mean for bond funds - especially strategic
bond funds - and taking into account whether they predominantly hold gilts or
corporate bonds; investment grade or high yield/junk; long dated or short dated?
(Apologies for yet another…

Start investments now or wait?
This tax year I am planning to get stuck into S+S investments, by opening an ISA, LISA and SIPP. My query is, when? My plan is to open a SIPP and LISA first. I missed the boat with the last tax year (started researching about 2 weeks too late), so really the only imperitive is to open and add my desired lump sum before…

BLME 90-day Notice Account Rate Reduction
Has anyone else holding Issue 1 had their rate reduced? I opened it just before it was withdrawn with £16k at 1.71%, but this week, after after I added a £42k deposit they notified me of a reduction to 1.2%. Yet their website is still showing 1.71%. I hope this is just bad timing, and I haven't been penalised for adding to…
