Where to put lump sum for 6 months?
We have recently inherited £80k and my work contact is up for renewal in March 17, so may need to dip into it then. Is there a place we can put it short term (other than a savings account) where we will benefit without risking capital? Would appreciate your thoughts

Was asked to buy shares for family member, now the stock is delisted
So I've got myself in a bit of a pickle. Around 6 months ago I was asked to buy shares in a few companies on behalf of my father in law who isn't eligible for a S&S ISA because he's non-resident. I ran into trouble opening the S&S ISA so I didn't get around to buying the shares but I kept the cash parked. Anyway long story…

Investment Advice
We would appreciate any advice on how to invest our current savings pot of approx £125k, currently all held in cash accounts. Due to falling interest rates we feel now would be a good time to look at investing for an improved rate of return but neither of us knows the first thing about investments. We had an initial…

Santander letter re. Stocks & shares ISAs
Dear all While a long-time MSE follower, this is my first forum post, thus reflecting my desire for any helpful feedback. Has anyone else been written to this summer by Santander regarding FCA concerns about investments sold between 2010 and 2011? My wife and I each took out a Fixed Return Plan Growth, which guaranteed our…

TSB Current account change of interest rate?!
Just filled in a questionnaire for TSB customer services. Reading through the options it seems likely that the interest bearing current accounts will fall to 3 % on £1500 saved. They did question on other rates 4% on £1000 and similar but they all came to the same timing ... I suggested that my account with them would be…

Skyline Markets - I think my son has been a bit silly
Hi, been a long time since I've posted here but knew someone would be able to help me! My son (just turned 19) stupidly answered a call from an "agent" of Skyline Markets - a binary trader - and was sweet talked into opening an account. My son, being a hard worker, but probably thinking he can earn a bit more - then sends…

Savings Account: 16 Year Old
I visited Martin early June at his show in Leeds, I spoke to him about getting my first job and wanting to save for University, my first driving lessons etc etc.. He recommended opening an Easy Savers Account from Halifax and setting aside around £100 each month, bearing in mind this was pre-brexit. Now its post brexit and…

Asking for stocks and funds investing practical beginner questions and advice
The average 5% annual return comes from FTSE100 and S&P500 simulators looking at the last 10 years (including dividends). By 'safe' I mean that they have been known to somewhat-consitently grow in value, yes I do understand that the past is not equal future returns. What do you think are "fund-and-forget" funds, ones for…
